Understanding our economy begins with strong
data. EDC develops economic reports to help
business and civic leaders make informed
decisions.
In order to grow jobs, EDC dispatched the
following company support tactics and events:
 Hosted its inaugural DIV Grand Prize
Pitch event - Planck Aerosystems wins
 Assisted in bringing 30+ federal
government and military personnel to
tour San Diego tech companies
 Garnered 200+ attendees to North
County Day San Diego Startup Week
 Supported a manufacturer in securing a
new 13,000sq-ft facility, adding new
employees and growing its operations in
Barrio Logan
 Helped Cubic Corporation secure an
$8.5 million state tax credit
 Assisted the Integrated Pilot Program
(IPP) in making way for Uber Eats to
launch in San Diego this summer
OF SAN DIEGO FIRMS ARE
98% SMALL BUSINESSES
Telling an inclusive, data-driven story of San
Diego, EDC released the following research:
 Equipping Small Businesses to Compete
 Qualcomm's Contribution to San Diego's
Economy
 San Diego's Economic Pulse
Driven by the Equipping Small Businesses to
Compete study, EDC and its employer-led
Inclusive Growth Steering Committee
officially endorsed a regional goal to create
50,000 new quality jobs within small businesses
by 2030.

Additionally, as part of JPMorgan

Chase's AdvancingCities Challenge, a $3 million
grant (the largest in EDC's history) was awarded
to fund a new collaborative program called
Advancing San Diego.
