ABOUT THE INSTITUTION
Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar (SSN) College of
Engineering an Autonomous Institute is the outcome
of the vision and initiative of Padma Bhushan Dr. Shiv
Nadar, Chairman of HCL Technologies Ltd. Established
in 1996 on a sprawling campus of 250 acres on the
Rajiv Gandhi Salai (OMR). The Institution offers eight
B.E./B. Tech. degree programs and eleven
M.E./M.Tech. degree programs in addition to MBA
program. This ISO 9001:2008 certified Institution has
been accredited by NAAC with an 'A+' Grade and all
eligible programs have been accredited by NBA for 5
years. The college is ranked 36th in Engineering
Category in India Rankings 2018 listed by NIRF,
MHRD. The SSN ranked 7th among best private
engineering colleges in India in Edu Rand Awards,

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Electrical and Electronics
Engineering offers NBA accredited B.E. degree
program in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and
M.E. degree program in Power Electronics and Drives.
The Department has 28 qualified faculty members
including 23 Ph.D. The department is recognized as
approved research center by Anna University. The
department is equipped with state-of the–art
laboratories with licensed softwares like MATLAB,
PSCAD, EMTP, ETAP, Mipower, MagNet, etc. The
department has signed MoU with various industries
and has taken up research projects funded by AICTE,
MNRE and NIWE.

enhance the knowledge of the participants with the
emerging trends in smart power systems. This

deliberations with hands-on training sessions on
software like ETAP, PSCAD etc to understand and
analyse the various aspects of smart power system.
