Evidence: The time is now

This evidence is divided into two parts: A composition and an audio file. Read the
instructions below and make sure you complete both tasks.

A. Answer the questions below. Use the examples as models of the grammar and
vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why didn’t you study English before? (List at least 5 reasons in a

composition.)

Example:

One of the reasons why I didn’t study English before it is because I thought it
was too difficult. I didn’t understand my English teacher at school and that
was frustrating.
 -The main reason why I did not study English before was because I studied in
a continuous-day school, where I studied all day and sometimes I did not have
time to do so many jobs.

- Another reason was because he believed that the SENA platform was not a
very effective certificate.

- Also because I felt that since I had good knowledge of English, I understood
very easily, I wrote, I spoke and I read; so I did not need to study what I
already knew.

-And the last one is because I did not know the importance of having
certificates in everything one studies, and less knew the benefits for the simple
fact of knowing English.

2. How different would things be if you had learned English before? (Name and
explain at least 5 things.)

Example:

If I had learned English some years ago I would have accepted a job a
multinational company offered me five years ago. One of the requirements
was to speak English and my level back then was very low.

- First of all, if I had studied English, it would have been useful for me
to have my certificates now that I am in the army

2. I would not have missed the opportunities to leave the country in a

work commission with the company I work with.

3. It would have served me too much in my studies.

4. I would not be so tight doing jobs in the military school and the SENA
platform

5. -I think that these studies would have helped me to enter the air force if
I had had them before.
B. Record an audio file of yourself answering the following questions. Use the
examples as models of the grammar and vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why are you studying English?

Example:

-I am studying English because I finally decided that if I want to improve my

professional profile it is essential to be bilingual.
-Because it is a benefit and has many opportunities.
-Also because it opens many doors in my military career.
- Someday I would like to go to the United States and integrate with the
military forces there

2. In what ways are you going to benefit from this learning?

Example:

Being competent in English is going to increase the opportunities of landing a

more satisfying and better-paid job. We live in an international open market
and English is the being competent.
English is the opportunities of having a more satisfying and better-paid job.
