REV: 1 ENGINEERING STANDARD BY SUPPLIERS

1. SCOPE

1.1 The Supplier of the equipment covered by the requisition to which this
standard is attached shall supply an Engineering Flow Diagram, or Diagrams,
and Line Lists for the equipment in accordance with FW's normal standards.
Such diagrams are also known as Piping and Instrument Diagrams or
Engineering Flowsheets.

1.2 This standard outlines the requirements for the preparation of such
Engineering Flow Diagrams by Suppliers, except as specified in the requisition
or otherwise agreed. It is to be read in conjunction with the FW Standard
Symbology drawing for the contract, which forms part of this standard, and
with the FW Vents and Drains drawing, included in the attachments to the
requisition.

1.3 In the event of conflict between the requisition and this standard, the specific
requirements of the requisition shall govern.

2. PREPARATION DETAILS

2.1 General

2.1.1 Flowsheets shall be on Suppliers size A1 drawing sheets. The title block shall
include the title box described in para 2.2, and FW drawing number, both
visible when the drawing is folded to A4 size.

2.1.2 Supplier shall include the following information on the flowsheet:

- Terminal points of his supply including size, type, rating, and number
or letter designation.

- Drawing number allocated by FW.

- The letters "FW" in brackets shown against any items supplied by

Foster Wheeler.

- Destination/origin of lines leaving/entering the EFD, where required.

- Line numbers.

2.1.3 General Notes, reference drawings, typical details etc. applicable to all EFD's
will be shown designated by letter and will be shown on the Symbols Flow
Diagram unless space requirements dictate otherwise. Notes applying to a
specific EFD shall be designated by number and be shown on that EFD only.

2.1.4 if any special attention in piping layout and design is required, special notes
shall be made on the EFD's. Other notes to clarify the EFD's shall be added
as required. For example, if a valve is required to be located against a vessel
nozzle, it shall be so stated on the EFD. Notes which are commonly required
include such items as "slope" and "symmetrical piping".

2.1.5 Where a system or arrangement of valves is repeated frequently, a typical

detail showing the arrangement is shown on the Symbols EFD. A letter (A,
B, C, etc) enclosed in a rectangle shall refer to this arrangement as a detail on
the EFD. This treatment shall be applied to flushing connections, drains and
vents at exchangers and pumps, steam out connections, steam trap
assemblies, etc.

2.1.6 Supplier shall prepare Auxiliary EFD's for rotating equipment such as
compressors, turbines, pumps and centrifuges where specified in requisition
or otherwise requested by FW.

2.2 Title Box

The Title Box of EFD's shall contain the following:

2.2.1 The first line shall always be "Engineering Flow Diagram".

2.2.2 The second line shall identify the specific subject covered in accordance with
the following examples:

Type of EFD Example of Second Line

Process Unit EFD Crude Unit, Derivative Unit etc.

Utility EFD Steam Generation, Cooling Tower, etc.

2.2.3 The third line shall contain a further breakdown of the specific subject, when
necessary. On a MEK Dewaxing Unit, for example, this third line might be
"Double Pipe Chillers and Exchangers".

2.2.4 The subsequent line(s) shall identify the Client, project and plant location.

2.2.5 A list of number designations for utilities supplies shall be provided adjacent
to the Title Box, see para 2.8.3. Where space permits a list of equipment
numbers for items appearing on the EFD shall be shown.

2.3 Equipment Arrangements

2.3.1 The EFD shall be divided into four horizontal sections. Equipment such as
towers, drums, heaters and tanks shall be placed in the two upper sections.
Heat exchangers shall be shown in the third section and pumps in the lower
section.

2.3.2 The divisions into sections may be altered to suit particular situations. For
example, if a condenser is to be located over an accumulator, it shall be
indicated in that manner on the EFD. When a unit has many interconnecting
lines between heat exchangers, the EFD's may be simplified by placing some
exchangers on the same line with the towers or pumps. Such exceptions are
justifiable in order to obtain a more realistic representation and an orderly
arrangement of piping.

Another example where flexibility is permitted is chemical type plants where

piping or ducting may be better shown in elevation.

For specialist packages, such as compressors or steam generators, where the

above arrangement cannot be applied supplier may use his own standard
arrangement of equipment items, or follow that shown on the typical
flowsheet where this is included with the requisition.

2.3.3 The minimum elevation shall be specified by the supplier at the lower tangent
line of all vertical vessels, at the bottom of all horizontal vessels and for other
equipment items where the elevation is critical to the process. Where several
items are interrelated, with respect to elevation, the minimum elevation will
be noted for only one of the items and dimensions used to show the
relationship with the other items, for example a reboiler which must have a
definite relation to its associated tower, vacuum equipment (condenser)
which has a distinct relationship with the associated sump or drum, or loop
seals where all critical dimensions shall be shown and referenced to a fixed
point.

2.3.4 Equipment shall be spaced so that further detailing will not be crowded,
remembering that EFD's are required to be clearly readable when reduced to
A3 size, and to be suitable for microfilming for record purposes.

2.4 Equipment Details

2.4.1 Equipment internals shall be shown in full light lines. Details of internals that
have no significant bearing on the piping design and layout shall be omitted.

2.4.2 If the nozzle at an item of equipment (vessel, pump, exchanger, etc.) is line
size and agrees with the Piping Material Specification, the type of connection
only (ie. whether it is flanged or otherwise), shall be indicated. If the
equipment nozzle is not line size or does not follow the Piping Material
Specification, then the EFD shall be noted per the following:

a) Indicate flange position by use of a double straight line and note the
different size and/or flange rating.

b) If the nozzle is not flanged, indicate appropriately the different size

and/or the deviation from the Piping Material Specification.

2.4.3 Where equipment is complicated with agreement of FW project engineer

nozzles may be numbered using the same numbering system as used on the
Process Data Sheet, and vessel drawing.

2.5 Equipment Numbering

2.5.1 Equipment numbers will be allocated by FW. Should Supplier require extra
numbers, he shall obtain them from FW and not assume that the next number
in sequence is necessarily available. Deleted numbers shall not be re-used.

2.5.2 Only the item number for the equipment shall be shown on the body of the
EFD; equipment titles or descriptions shall be shown in data boxes at the
bottom of the sheet.

2.5.3 Electrical equipment and motors will not normally be numbered. There will,
however, be exceptions eg. Electric Heat Exchangers.

2.6 Equipment Data

2.6.1 The technical data for pumps, heat exchangers, vessels and all other
equipment items shall be indicated in the appropriate data boxes at the
bottom of the EFD's. Insulation shall be clearly marked with the thickness
where required or marked NONE if none is required.

2.6.2 Equipment of a special nature shall also be numbered, named and described
in a data box. The information contained in the data box shall be amended to
suit the special item.

2.7 Line Numbering

2.7.1 The assignment of line number shall be based upon good judgement. The
formulation of a fixed set of rules is difficult, but the key criterion shall be
that the EFD's shall be clear to all interested parties. A given number shall
remain the same regardless of any size or specification change in the line. All
sizes and specifications of a given line shall be shown on a Line Classification

List as described in para 7. In accordance with the foregoing concept,

individual numbers shall be assigned to only the following lines:

a) Process Lines

1. Each complete run between equipment items. Note: Branches

from multiple nozzles on the same size piece of equipment, or a
line from two or more related equipment items in parallel, shall
have the same number as the basic line between items.

2. Lines between the battery limits and equipment items.

3. Branch lines from one of the above mentioned lines to another

unrelated line or equipment item.

4. Bypass or jump over lines around one or more equipment items

(see Appendix C for example).

b) Header Lines

1. Main header, including size and/or specification changes on run.

2. Sub-headers serving different areas of plot.

3. Branches from headers or sub-headers serving several pieces of

equipment, or several unrelated services.

4. Ultimate branches and local headers supply or collecting from, a

separate and distinct user or source.

c) Miscellaneous Lines (except as noted in Para 2.7.3)

1. Vents to atmosphere

2. Drains to sewer

3. Relief valve discharges to atmosphere, open sewer, etc.

2.7.2 The line number shall be shown on the EFD and shall contain the line size, a
line service designation, the EFD number from which the line originated, a
serial number for line identification, the line specification and the insulation
and tracing requirements, as shown on the Standard Symbology drawing.

2.7.3 Miscellaneous Connections to Equipment which are short, eg. vent and drain
connections, need only be given size and Piping Material Specification. It
may be necessary during piping detailing to allocate line numbers where
piping runs are longer than anticipated.

REV: 1 ENGINEERING STANDARD BY SUPPLIERS

2.7.4 A line number, once deleted, shall not be re-used. The line classification list
shall continue to carry the serial number only (no size or specification) marked
"Deleted".

2.7.5 Lines added after the first release of the Line Classification List shall be listed
at the end of the series, regardless of low sequence.

2.7.6 Insulation

a) Insulation and tracing requirements will be indicated on the flowsheet

by adding letters at the end of the line number. In the line
classification list the identical letters will be used together with details
of the thickness.

b) Unless noted otherwise the designation indicates the insulation/tracing

requirements for the complete line origin to terminal point. If only a
portion of the line is to be insulated or traced then an arrow equivalent
of a "Spec. break" shall be shown.

2.8 Termination of Lines

2.8.1 A line entering or leaving a unit at battery limits shall be terminated at the top
or bottom of the EFD with an indication of battery limit. Such lines will be
advised by FW, as they occur only infrequently in Suppliers packages.

2.8.2 A line which is continued on the adjacent EFD shall be terminated at the side
of the EFD where the reference numbers are printed. If a line is not
continued on the adjacent EFD, it shall terminate at the side with a boxed
reference to the EFD on which it is continued. This line shall be shown in the
direction and to match the adjacent EFD on the same reference line on both
EFD's.

2.8.3 A line to or from a utility header shall terminate at a square box enclosing a
number denoting the appropriate header system. A table entitled
"Nomenclature" shall appear on each EFD, showing the number assigned to
each header system for the complete project. Supplier shall, however, use
only those supply headers specified in the requisition as available to his
equipment, numbers for which will be advised by FW. Generally, the header
will serve only two or three users within a unit via a single Supplier/FW
terminal point and can be shown with the correct sequence of branches on
the Suppliers Process Unit/Utility EFD.

3. DRAUGHTING TECHNIQUES

3.1 Where a typical flowsheet is attached to the requisition to show style and
detail of flowsheet presentation, it is to clarify draughting requirements only,
and does not constitute any definition of equipment or detail, or extent of
supply.

3.2 In general, all piping lines shall be spaced a minimum of 7mm apart. Flow
arrows on lines shall be clear and distinct.

3.3 Lettering shall be 4mm high in all instances except equipment titles, which
shall be 5mm high and extra heavy. All lettering shall be vertical and in
capitals.

3.4 The type of lines to be used on EFD's shall be as indicated on the Standard
symbology sheet attached to the requisition.

3.5 Flow arrows shall be shown sufficient to readily indicate direction of flow,
but need not be shown on each occasion where lines change direction and at
junctions.

4. FLOW DIAGRAM SYMBOLS

4.1 Symbology shall be in accordance with the "Standard symbology" drawing

attached to the requisition.

4.2 Instrument symbols shall be in accordance with ISA-S5.1. The standard

symbology drawing shows some typical examples of instrument symbology.

4.3 Block valves on instrument connections to piping and equipment shall not be
shown. Instrument connections are diagrammatic only. Precise details of the
connection will not be shown on the EFD.

4.4 Where interlocks, shutdowns or other relay or complex pneumatic electric or

hydraulic circuitry are involved, the input and output signals shall be shown
going to boxes labelled "Shutdown Circuit" or similar. The EFD shall list
those functions which would initiate a shutdown, inhibit start up or
consequentially trip other items. the list shall be in a rectangular box on the
same flowsheet as the main item in the shutdown system.

4.5 Reducers

4.5.1 The reducer symbol shall not be shown on the EFD where the need for a
reduction in size (including reducing flange, reducing fitting or swage) is
evident. For example, there is no need to show reducer symbols for the
following cases:

a) The junction of two lines of different sizes.

b) At an item of equipment where both the size of the nozzle and the line
size are already shown.

4.5.2 In some cases, confusion can be avoided if reducer symbols are shown on
the EFD. At pump suction and discharge lines flow orifices, etc. a reducer
symbol shall be indicated so that the exact location of the reducer will not be
in doubt.

5. STANDARD PRESENTATION

To ensure a consistent approach in the presentation of standard

arrangements the following guidelines shall be followed:

5.1 Main Process Lines

These are indicated by a heavy line. The heavy line should break when
passing through equipment such as fired heater passes and should only be
shown hereby to and from the primary item, not the spare.

Relief valves discharging to atmosphere shall not have the discharge line
manifold. Downstream isolating valves shall not be installed.

5.2.2 Weep holes (W.H.) are required on all RV lines discharging to atmosphere.
They shall be piped to safe location if hazardous, eg.:

5.3 Control Sets

5.3.1 Generally control valves sets shall be indicated thus:

5.3.2 Where control valves require special treatment for noise control eg. acoustic
insulation, silencers, all equipment must be shown, in the correct physical
sequence.

5.4 Flanges

Flanges are not normally shown on EFD's. There are, however, some
exceptions:

1. Removable spool pieces

2. Blanked Flanges on headers or vessels

3. At swing elbows

4. At blinds in welded specs.

(or elsewhere)

5. At temporary strainers

6. At orifice plates

7. At flanged FW/V breaks

5.5 Bleed Valves

" Bleed Valves shall be shown at the following locations:

1. Between check and downstream block valves on pump discharges.

2. Between control valve and upstream block valve at control valve sets.

3. Between relief valves and isolating block valves.

4. Between double block valves.

5. At spectacle blinds.

5.6 Piping Vent and Drains

Only process vents and drains shall be shown on EFD's. Hydrostatic test
vents and drains shall not be shown. Where possible vents and drains shall
be diagrammatically correct, ie. vents on top of a horizontal line, drains
below. If the line is depicted vertically on the EFD 'V' or 'D' should be
shown against the valve. Only show a blind flange for flanged valves where
a blind flange is necessary. Normally valves will be provided with a screwed
plug. (Refer to FW vent and drain detail drawing attached to the requisition).

5.7 Equipment Vents and Drains

1. Pumps Where pump casings require vents and drains they shall be
shown. Casing vents and drains for pumps handling toxic materials
shall discharge to a closed system. Casing vents and drains for pumps
in non-volatile or non-hazardous service shall be blanked. An open hub
to the oily water sewer will be provided by FW at each pump for
casing and/or baseplate drain. This hub shall not be shown on the
EFD. Where hubs/connections to other sewer systems are required
these shall be indicated on the EFD.

2. Other Equipment Drains and vents including sewer hubs for all other
equipment shall be fully indicated.

5.8 Pressure Equalisation by-passes shall be shown:

for integral by-pass

for separate by-pass

5.9 Use of Utility Boxes

Minor utility connections such as cooling water, seal oil, quench steam to
pumps etc. should not be shown on the Process Unit/Utility EFD. It is
sufficient to show the box reference entry and to show the take off on the
distribution EFD.

(Note that cooling water return might be contaminated and may not be
returnable).

5.10 Power Boiler/Piping Code

Equipment and piping within the jurisdiction of the applicable boiler code shall
be indicated on the EFD.

6. REVISIONS

6.1 When revising EFD's from Rev A onwards the revised portion shall be neatly
and accurately encircled on the back of the EFD. Before each new revision,
all circles made for the previous revision must be removed. Circles shall
enclose only that portion of the drawing which reflects a revision. circles
shall not be joined together to form one large circle.

6.2 Normally the revision description box will indicate only the general nature of
the revision eg.
Rev 0 Original Issue
Rev A General Revision

7. LINE CLASSIFICATION LIST

7.1 Supplier shall prepare and issue a line classification list together with each
revision of the EFD, and include the information specified in Para 7.2 to 7.9
below. Each time an EFD is revised, the Line Classification List shall also be
revised to indicate the latest EFD revision letter whether or not the body of
the Line Classification List is revised. Thus there will always be a correlation
between the latest revision of the EFD and its accompanying line list. where
no revision is made to the body no change shall appear in the margin.

7.2 Operating and Design data for streams entering and leaving the supplier
package shall be consistent with those specified in the requisition.

7.3 Operating Temperature

This is the maximum continuous operating temperature for hot services or

minimum cold services. Short term upset conditions shall not be stated (see
design temperature). Where two or more different operating conditions occur
in a line then each set of conditions shall be given eg.

Line Operating Design

No Temp Press Temp Press

0101 100/200 500 200/250 580 NOTE 1

0102 200 500 250 580

Note 1. Higher temperatures occur downstream of junction with line 0102.

7.4 Operating Pressure

This is the normal operating pressure of connected equipment. Allowance

for pressure drop and static head need not be made unless significant. this
will usually occur at control valves where there will be a significant change
in the normal operating pressure, or for bottom draw-off from towers.

7.5 Design Temperature

The design temperature is the material temperature representing the most

severe condition of coincident pressure and temperature. Normally this will
be the maximum design temperature of connected equipment. Where it is
not possible to determine design temperature from connected equipment,
25 C shall be added to the normal operating temperature unless supplier's
requirements dictate otherwise.

Electrically traced lines shall have the maintained temperature shown.

Steam traced line shall indicate the number of traced line shall indicate the
number of tracers required, obtained from the project steam tracing
specification.

7.6 Design Pressure

The design pressure shall not be less than the pressure at the most severe
condition of coincident internal of external pressure and temperature
expected during operating. The design pressure shall be the maximum of:

a) Design pressure of connected equipment.

b) Set pressure of PSV protecting the system.

c) Pump shut-off head for centrifugal pumps when not protected by a

PSV.

d) Pump discharge head for turbine driven centrifugal pumps.

Note: In all cases check to ensure that hydraulic heads have been
included

7.7 Field Test Pressure

Field Test Pressure shall be determined by the supplier as defined by the

standards forming part of the requisition, and stated in the appropriate
column of the line list.

The wall thickness of all lines where the thickness is not given by the Piping
Material Specifications, shall be calculated by the supplier and shown on the
Line Classification List.

7.8 When a line requires Post Weld Treatment (PWHT), the abbreviation PWHT
shall be noted in the "Remarks" column of the Line Classification List.

7.9 Piping Material Specification

Supplier shall select the appropriate Piping Material Specification as given in

the requisition. For special applications where no FW Piping Material
Specification is included, supplier shall advise FW, who will in turn advise
designation to be shown for such piping on the Line Classification List.
