Detailed Lesson Plan in English 7

I. Expected Outcomes
At the end of the lesson 80% of the students will be able to:
1. Distinguish significant characteristics of words that are classified as Homonyms,
Homophones and Homographs used in the sentences given.
2. Construe the meaning of frequently confused homo-words using the context given by
the sample sentences.
3. Use homo-words appropriately in sentence construction.

Reference: English Learner’s Material 7 (pg. 470-471), Internet

Materials: Visual Aids (Cartolina), Slide Presentation (Powerpoint), Worksheet, Cardboard with
stick and Chalk and Board

Concepts:

a. Homonyms: words that are the same in spelling and pronunciation but differ in meaning.
(e.g scale- fish covering scale- measure)
b. Homophones: words with same sounds but different spelling and meaning (steal- to
snatch steel – metal/iron)
c. Homographs – words that are spelled similarly but differs in pronunciation and meaning
(minute- unit of time minute- tiny)
