WELCOME ADDRESS

Trisha Ann C. De Guzman

I would like to expand on the quote I have come across, “Life is a process of
becoming,” and so today is but one of many in which we will determine who we
are and for what we will be remembered.
Before moving on, allow me to say that I am humbled by the task before me
and grateful for the opportunity. To our beloved principal, Ms. Gloria P. Carpio,
remarkable commencement speaker, prominent personalities from the
Department of Education, strong force administrative, faculty and staff of Culianan
National High School, proud parents, my fellow graduates, ladies and gentlemen,
a marvelous afternoon.
Education must be the kind that prepare the students for the days ahead and
not for the times that had past. Consequently, it must be the kind that provokes
thinking, not merely designed for accumulation of knowledge, goes beyond rote
learning nut reaches critical analysis and evaluation and makes learning concepts
and theories not the ultimate goal instead simply means to an end.
Change brings forth challenges. Great changes subsequently produce great
challenges. Nonetheless, this that not means that one should be frightened. Indeed,
those weak at heart, of lousy skills and impoverished mental power cower even at
the sight of trials. However, we, graduates of the great Culianan National High
School are no ineffectual – certainly not.
As we share not our knowledge and skill alone but our very selves to the
community we belong and the country at large, remain to be vanguards of the
advancement, peace and order. Accept no pale imitations – improvements at the
cost if human dignity, peace and stifled rights and order imposed by fear.
When these are being done, expect difficulties, and remember that life is
beautiful, bot easy.
With this I welcome you all in this momentous 2nd commencement exercises.
May your journey through life be an unforgettable ride. Thank you.
