Content: Procedures in taking body measurements for sleeping garments

Reference: Competency Based Learning Material, Garments NC II, pages 31-38

Context: Classroom

Methodology: Measuring tape

Expectation: At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to take body measurements for
sleeping garments

Assessment: Taking body measurements for ladies skirt following the given procedures

Learning Episode 1

A. Motivation

1. Today, we will learn how to take body measurements for sleeping garments

2. The importance of this lesson is for you to know how to take accurate body measurements for
sleeping garments.

B. Probe and Respond

1. Review

The teacher will ask about what they did last meeting.

Teacher says:
Class, what did we do last meeting?
Expected answer:
Last meeting, we learned about the different types of sleeping garments
Teacher says:
Do you understand everything that we discussed last meeting?
Expected answer:
Yes, ma’am.
Learning Episode 2 Modeling

The teacher will write down the measurements needed for sleeping garments

Body Measurements Needed for Sleeping Garments

1. Shoulder

The teacher will let the students read the Body Measurements Needed for Sleeping Garments and
will then proceed to discuss the procedures in taking the body measurements mentioned.

Procedures in Taking Body Measurements for Ladies Skirt

1. Shoulder – measurement taken from the tip of the left shoulder to the tip of the right shoulder

2. Chest - Measure from the left (front) armhole seam to the right (front) armhole seam.

3. Bust – measurement is taken around the bust with the tape measure running on the same level
in front, at the back and on the sides

4. Waist – take measurement around the smallest part of the torso

5. First Hip – measurement is taken around the hip level where the stomach is fullest

6. Blouse Length – measurement is taken from the shoulder down to the first hip

7. Apex Height – measure form the neck point down to the highest point of the bust

8. Apex Distance – measurement should be taken across from the tip of the left bust point to the
tip of the right bust point
Learning Episode 3

A. Guided Practice

The students will find a pair. The students will be given 10 minutes to prepare. The teacher will then
let each pair demonstrate the Procedures in Taking Body Measurements for Ladies Skirt in front of
the class. Each pair’s performance will be graded using the following rubric:
