Grand Master’s 4th Quarter Message

There was a time when to be accepted into a Masonic Fraternity

one must be exceptional or distinctive. Candidates were tested to
ascertain their qualifications. Initiation was an honor. Each
candidate was to be sponsored by a member in good standing, who
acted as guardian, guide and teacher.

With the premise in mind, one must follow first. If you cannot
follow you cannot lead. We, who are the leaders, are followers of
certain principles and procedures that are the foundation of our

A Message from Grand Worthy Matron
Jacqueline Code

The members of the Order of the Eastern Star are dedicated women and men who
sincerely reflect the spirit of Fraternal Love and the utmost desire to work together for a
common good. It gives us the opportunity to give a part of our time, talents and
finances to many projects that benefit mankind.

The Eastern Chapter meetings should be interesting and should be attended regularly.
We need the energies of all of our members to bring ideas and increase the membership
of our Order with dedicated and loyal members.

We should be proud of our Order’s heritage. Thousands of our members have contribut-
ed their time, energy and wisdom in unselfish service to our Order and for the good of
our communities, places of worship, and the world. It is through our fraternal service to
humanity that together we can build a better life for all.

Board of Directors
“For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye
might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.”
Colossians 1:9

June 3, 2019

Greeting from the Board of Directors,

As we recall in our ritualistic studies, the theological ladder which Jacob in his wisdom saw
ascending from earth to heaven, the three principal rounds of which are denominated Faith,
Hope and Charity; and which admonish us to have faith in God, hope in immortality, and
charity to all mankind. Charity being the most principle of the three extends beyond the grave,
through the boundless realms of eternity.

It is through this charity that we become a cheerful giver especially at our Divine Day services
and other services that we asked to donate a monetary offering. For years, most of us
unconsciously pulled out a dollar or two to put in the collection plate not giving any thought as
to what this money helps to achieve. Some of us even joke about being hijacked or make
unselfish remarks about having to part with our hard earned cash. We are not saying that you
should be tiding; however, an increase of at least $5.00 certainly will not break us and
probably will make us feel good inside knowing that we are making a contribution for the
good. During the course of a year, we attend about two Divine Day services and at least four
anniversaries which totals up to an annual output of $30.00 per year at $5.00 a session.

Change is good, faith, hope and charity are a winning formula. Let’s make a conscious effort
to increase our donations starting with the next anniversary or Divine Day service.

Come join us as we move towards the Light.

Fraternally submitted,
Board of Directors

Brothers & Sisters Helping Others

On behalf of the Naomi Grand Chapter School of Instruction Staff, we would like to thank the
entire jurisdiction for their support during the school year. Thank you to everyone that donated to
our fundraiser, to everyone that placed an ad in our journal, to each member that was present for the
Grand Chapter Officers visit, to everyone that supported our Farewell and most importantly to
everyone that attended our graduation. Thank you!

One of the tenants of our Order is “Loving Kindness”. Loving kindness can be just a kind word or
gesture, thank you for the kindness you’ve shown to the Staff and the students. We are
truly grateful for your support.

Always remember to lift every Sister up, you may never know when she is down.

Kindness lifts your Mood
Journal of Happiness Studies

Practicing quite kindness-silently wishing others well or thinking about the hopes and feeling
you share with those around you could raise your own spirits. In a study of adults, those who
did this during a 12-minute walk felt happier, more connected, caring and empathetic,
compared with a control group that simply noticed people’ clothing, hair and makeup. The
study involved young adults, but the results may hold true for older people too.

Keep Your Self Hydrated This Summer

Make sure you’re getting enough liquids and the right relief from the heat.

Many older people may not be sipping enough water to keep themselves well hydrated. That
is partly because they may not feel as thirsty as they did in their younger years. Plus one’s
sense of taste can diminish with age, which means that some foods and drinks that used to
taste good may not be so appealing-including plain old water. These factors can make it hard
to stay cool and hydrated during the sultry summer days, but these five tips can help.

• Make Water Tastier: Add fruit juice, chopped fruit or other flavorful item and mix into a
pitcher or bottle of water.
• Dress To Stay Cool: Wear light colored clothing that are light weight and loose fitting to
allow air to freely flow around your body.
• Choose Fruits And Veggies: These foods like watermelon, strawberry, celery and tomatoes
can keep you hydrated because they contain 90% water or more.
• Whip Up A Smoothie: If you make it at home, you can eliminate the sugar and pack your
smoothie with healthy ingredients.
Prevent Overheating: If you start to feel uncomfortably warm, get into air conditioning or
take a cool shower to prevent heat stroke.

“That he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but every
word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord does man live.”
Deuteronomy 8:3

1. Wake Up!! Decide to have a good day. "Today is a day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and
be glad in it." Psalms 118:24

2.Dress Up!! The best way to dress is to put on a smile. A smile is an inexpensive way to
improve your looks. "The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at outward
appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Samuel 16:7

3. Shut Up!! Say nice things and learn to listen. God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He
must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking. "He who guards his lips guards
his soul.” Proverbs 13:3

4. Stand Up!!... For what you believe in. Stand for something or you will fall for anything…" Let us
not be weary in doing good for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good…" Galatians 6:9-1

5. Look Up! ! To the Lord. "I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me."
Philippians 4:13

6. Reach Up!!... For something higher. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not
unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path."
Proverbs 3:5-6

7. Lift Up!!... Your prayers. "Do not worry about anything; instead PRAY ABOUT
EVERY THING." Philippians 4:

GOD ANSWERS PRAYER

Faith it until you make it.
