1.Purpose

The purpose of the following policy and procedures is to ensure that all kind of waste is
properly and safely managed, from its generation through handling, storage, and
preparation for transportation.

2.Scope

This procedure covers the following facilities and sites:


a) Head Office
b) Site Offices
c) Warehouses
d) Other Areas

3.Responsibilities

It is every one responsibility to ensure waste free area.

4.Procedure

4.1 Introduction

Waste management is important for the following reasons:


4.1.1 Solid waste and rubbish has potential to adversely affect the environment of the area
and its surrounds.

4.1.2 Liquid waste has the potential to contaminate surrounding soil and water.

4.1.3 Hazardous waste includes hydrocarbon waste and other chemicals which have potential
to contaminate surrounding soil and water.

4.1.4 Prompt spill cleanup limits the area immediately contaminated and the possibility of
extended impact from contaminant transport to other areas.

4.1.5 Recycling reduces the amount of waste needed to be disposed on site and provides
energy and material savings from the products reuse.

4.2 Kinds of Waste and their Handling and Disposal Responsibility & Method:

4.1.6 Waste of paper:


1. Sweepers / Cleaners are responsible that on daily basis they collect pieces of papers
and cards from all area.

2. They pack the waste in poly bags and store the waste into the large drum of waste
storage; where concern department of company make arrangements for its disposal at
per clients recommended locations or as per govt. requirements.

3. A proper Gate Pass is maintained for the delivery of material from area to
disposal site.

4. More over Department/Area Supervisor will ensure the house-keeping arrangements


as per procedure and will also control the system cleanness.

5. Management Representative and HSE Incharge ensure the recycling of papers for
internal use of communication, memos, notices, and etc.

4.1.7 Waste of Used Poly Bags:


1. Sweepers / Cleaners are responsible that on daily basis they collect those poly bags
from different areas which cannot be used again and are identified as waste in a poly
bag and dump it in a large drum of waste storage.

2. These wastes are collected these wastes on monthly basis to deliver it to the
designated disposal facility.

3. A proper Gate Pass is maintained for the delivery of material from area to
contractor.

4.1.8 Waste of First Aid Box Medicine:


1. Department Supervisor and HSE Incharge is responsible that he will inspect first aid
boxes in a company area on weekly basis where he will collect those medicines which
are expired pack them all in a poly bag and dump them in a separate dust bin, so that
waste can be taken to the designated disposal facility and will be properly disposed
off.
2. A proper Gate Pass is maintained for the delivery of material from area to
contractor.

4.1.9 Sanitary Waste:


1. Sweepers / Cleaners are responsible that on daily basis they collect sanitary waste from
washroom and collect them in poly bags and dump them in a dust bin, so they can be
properly disposed off.

2. A proper Gate Pass is maintained for the delivery of material from area to
contractor.

4.1.10 Electric waste:


1. Department/Area Incharge shall ensure the waste of department is properly stack
according to the standard.

2. Tube lights shall be disposed off to disposal facility.

3. Other remaining products such as iron rods, drums, pipes, and buckets shall be supplied
to contractor and that will be given to PWB disposal facility as waste.

4. A proper Gate Pass is maintained for the delivery of material from area to
contractor.

4.1.11 Waste of Construction:


1. Management Representative and HSE Incharge shall ensure the constructions within the
project area and shall also collect the waste of construction which may be cement,
sand, brisk, paint, iron material, plastic material, wood material and etc.

2. All these wastes shall be disposed off by dumping them at designated locations.

3. A proper Gate Pass is maintained for the delivery of material from area to
contractor.

4.1.12 Waste of Lubricant:


1. Management Representative and HSE Incharge shall ensure the waste of generator oil
at the time of maintenance service and spill during working of generator.
2. Waste of oil shall be stored in waste of oil drum by the complete fill of drum.

3. On each time, the filled drum oil will be sent to disposal facility.

4. More over the waste of oil will also be used for machine maintenance on very first
priority.

5. A proper Gate Pass is maintained for the delivery of material from area to contractor.

4.1.13 Waste of Tube lights/Bulbs:


1. Management Representative and HSE Incharge is responsible to ensure the proper
disposal of tube lights/Bulbs and also to ensure the mercury of tube lights/Bulbs.

2. The priority to dispose the mercury is essential. Therefore, tube light/Bulbs will be sent
to disposal facility.

3. A proper Gate Pass is maintained for the delivery of material from area.

4.1.14 Waste of Metal items:


1. The wastes of work shop utilized, material of iron, aluminum, brass, and Teflon
etc is disposed off at the locations recommended by clients or use or recycle etc.
2. A proper Gate Pass is maintained for the delivery of material.

4.1.15 Waste of Plastic items:


1. The wastes of plastic items in the area can be,
a) Plastic pieces
b) PVC Pallets
c) PVC Drums/Cans
2. All above mentioned scrap is disposed off to the locations provided by clients.

3. A proper Gate Pass is maintained for the delivery of material.

4.1.16 Waste of Wooden Pallets


1. The wastes of plastic items in the area can be,
a) Construction
b) All above mentioned scrap is disposed off to the locations provided by clients.

2. A proper Gate Pass is maintained for the delivery of material.
