Topic: Idiomatic Expressions

Objectives:
After the remedial session, the students will be able to:
1. Define idiomatic expression
2. Identify the Idiomatic expressions in the text
3. Write their own work with the given idiomatic expressions

Materials:
1. Powerpoint slides for the lecture
2. Yellow pad and pen for the motivation activity
3. Youtube videos for motivation

Lesson Proper:
A. Motivation (5 Minutes)
1. Teacher will tell the students to watch a video on idiomatic expressions.
2. While watching, teacher will instruct the students to write down the new
idiomatic expressions or any new words they encounter watching the video.

B. Discussion / Activity (15 Minutes)


1. Discussion (5 Minutes)
a. Before giving a lecture, teacher will be listing down the list of words
and idiomatic expressions that students had wrote watching the video,
and explain what the words mean (Including the idiomatic
expressions).
b. Teacher will clarify the meaning of the words that students didn’t
know, and the teacher will relate the words to idiomatic expression.
c. After that, Teacher will be discussing about the definition of idiomatic
expressions giving different examples in various context using the
powerpoint presentation.

2. Activity (10 Minutes)


a. Teacher will prepare 5 idiomatic expression cards.
b. 5 Students will volunteer to take the card and draw the idiomatic
expressions on the board literally (For example if the idiomatic
expression given is ‘Break a leg’, student will be drawing a picture
breaking a leg).
c. When the volunteers are done with the drawings, other classmates will
guess the implied the meaning of the picture.
d. Students can keep reciting their answers until they get the right
answer.
C. Assessment (10 Minutes)
Students will be answering a worksheet;

Part 1: Given a conversation, students will identify the definitions of the


idiomatic expressions used in the text (Multiple choice: 5 Items).

Part 2: Students will encircle the appropriate choice of idiomatic expressions


of an each item used in the sentence (Multiple choice: 5 Items).

Part 3: Using 3 given idiomatic expressions, student will be writing a


conversation.
