4.1. Data flow diagrams graphically characterize data processes and flows in a
business system. The depict the broadest possible overview of system
inputs, processes, and outputs.
Four symbols are used to chart data movement on data flow diagrams:
double square, arrow, rectangle with rounded corners, and an open-ended
rectangle. The meaning of the symbols is the following:
Double square: depicts an external entity that can send data to or receive
data from the system.
Arrow: Shows the movement of data for one point to another.
Rectangle with rounded corners shows the occurrence of a transforming
process.
Open – ended rectangle: represents a data store.
4.2. Yes. We would like users to interact and give feedback and this would not
be possible if they are confused by it.
4.3. Data flow diagrams show the inputs and outputs of a system showing users
how they will work with the system. Use case diagrams show the activities
as well as the users interacting with the activity. The use case does not
show the system inputs and outputs and has less detail than the data flow
diagram.
