Exploration and Development Department

HSE Engineer

Purpose
The Exploration & Development Department QHSE coordinator will provide the
EDD Manager with continuous advice and support to ensure that the operations
are conducted in accordance with the requirements of the QHSE Management
System and to ensure that QHSE remains an integral part of the business and
equal in priority to production and profitability.

Responsibilities
• Develops EDD Manager’s awareness and ensures that Quality and HSE are
an integral part of the EDD objectives.
• Assists the EDD Manager:
– Reducing accidents year on year towards the ultimate goal of zero
accidents;
– Contributing to, maintaining, implementing and improving the
Service Quality (SQ) Management System;
– Defining the EDD QHSE objectives, in line with the KJO objectives;
– Liaising with contractors, third party contractors and agencies
regarding QHSE
– Assessing EDD specific QHSE risks;
– Preparing the QHSE plans required to ensure optimum minimization
of the EDD risks and compliance to QHSE policies, standards and
procedures.
– Defining and deploying EDD QHSE training
– Supporting EDD specific QHSE initiatives;
• Prepares projects Bridging Documents between EDD, the contractors and
third party contractors to clearly establish which policies are standards will be
applicable.
• Ensures that all EDD specific QHSE risks are identified, assessed and that
appropriate risk management plans are implemented.
• Ensures that adequate QHSE training is provided to all personnel, including
contractors, to meet all projects needs.
• Ensure that all new employees and visitors receive orientation tailored for
their involvement in the operation and that this orientation is recorded in the
employees’ QHSE file.
• Ensures that all accidents are properly notified to ISD, investigated, reviewed
and followed up, as per the ISD QHSE Reporting standards and participates
in investigations of major failures and accidents, as required by the standards.
• Advises the EDD Manager on corrective action required.
• Enter all safty statistical data and the QHSE scorecard data in a database on
a timely basis.
• Ensures that best practices, lessons learned and alerts are available and
distributed to all concerned.
• Ensure that all regulatory, legislative, and KJO reporting requirements are
met.
• Leads the EDD Service Quality audit self assessment and monitors the
closure of the remedial work plan.
• Establish periodical QHSE meetings and co-ordinate monthly QHSE
meetings with the contractors. Co-ordinate monthly Service Quality meeting
with all contractors and third party contractors.
• Ensure that the EDD specific Emergency Response Plan (ERP) is consistent
with the KJO ERP and is well communicate to all participants and local
communities if applicable. Conduct regular drills to ensure readiness in a
variety of emergencies.
• Prepare a Site Environmental History File and verify its accuracy on a
quarterly basis.
• Develops Quality and HSE partnerships with contractors, suppliers and
promotes KJO QHSE leadership within the Industry.
• Keeps abreast of any new development or policy related to QHSE and
informs the EDD Manager accordingly
• Ensures regular updating of personal certifications and attends to personal
training as required.

Education
B.S degree or equivalent

Experience
Minimum 5 years experience but not necessarily in a QHSE position. A field
experience in a service company or with an operator is equally acceptable.

Profile
Good Understanding of QHSE Management Systems and rig or well construction
operations
Leadership, assertiveness, self motivation, discipline, good communication,
training skills, personnel organization

Reports To
EDD Manager

Work Location
Work at Office and occasionally visits EDD facilities (e.g. drilling shop, core store
house) and offshore rigs.
