ESSAY
As part of the admission process, you are required to submit the three essays to support your
admission. This statement will provide the Admission Committee with more detailed information
about you and your reasons for studying law at the Mindanao State University College of Law. The
submission offers you the opportunity to present yourself more fully to the Admission Committee
and provide us with greater information on your application.
The submission must be typed. Please use A4 sized paper or 8 1/2" x 11" paper. Limit your responses to
the maximum number of words designated for each question. Use standard double spaced lines with a 12
point font. Your name should appear at the top of each separate sheet of paper. The number of the
question should also be clearly written before each essay. Submit them along with other application form
either via email or personally at any of the campuses of the College of Law.
1. Personal Statement: Include any further information about yourself that you may feel be relevant to
the Admission Committee when considering your application. (This might include other relevant
professional experience, academic publications, prizes, scholarships awarded, membership of
professional societies, as well as any other significant personal achievements). (max. 600 words)
2. Statement of Purpose: Why do you want to study law? You may include here stories or personal
experiences that have inspired you to study law. Do not hesitate to state the real reason why you
will study law. (max. 800 words)
3. How do you see yourself after law school? You may discuss here your professional track as lawyer.
You may also include you future undertakings or contributions in the administration of justice. (max.
800 words)
Please note, the submission must be solely the product of your own efforts. The College of Law
reserves the right to disqualify any applicant whose statement was written by, or with the help of, someone
other than the applicant.
