If you’re not careful, you may be pulled out of your lane and miss your vein. Only say
yes to things that will specifically allow you to meet your goals that God has given you.
Have laser focus.

Be clear:
spiritually, socially, politically and personally!

Learn the power of asking the right question.
In 2003, he’d just been named the president of Thomas Nelson Publishing and was on his
way to work one morning, when he slipped on the fourth step at home. He didn’t feel
immediate pain, but as soon as he tried to use his left foot, he realized he’d broken it.
The next 10 days were scuttled and he needed a therapeutic boot and crutches for three
months. He spent time feeling sorry for himself. Rather, he should’ve shifted to the
future and asked, “What can I learn from this?” Some things we may not have gotten to
become possible! (Reading, resting, writing on blogs, getting bumped up to first class,
experiencing what life as a handicapped person is like!!)

Horse, “Skeeter” is getting old. Their four children don’t really spend time with him
anymore, so they are re-evaluating the need to keep him. Maybe it’s time for him to
move on (to another family?) In our own lives, how do we know when it’s time to move
on?

Everything we do has to be put in the same box as Jesus!

Mike Slaughter
1. His best decision was to disciple people in his home on Tuesday nights. The
best disciple makers are not services or programs, but other disciples!!
2. They have multiplied worship communities in other areas: recovery
community, food pantry church, urban church in an at risk community! Alongside these,
they run programs that help those people (12 step program, food distribution, GED
programs.)
3. Darfur, Sudan – they have built water wells, agriculture programs, etc. there
and now they will be able to plant a church there!

Remember that as a manager, you may have to do the difficult thing and confront certain
issues, even though your friends are involved.
Accept the fact that you will fail once in a while!

You cannot motivate people. Motivation comes from within. Relieve yourself of the
pressure to try motivating them! Focus on what people are motivated for, rather than just
trying to motivate them. You cannot make an orange an apple. Disciple and coax an
apple to be a good, fruitful apple.

Was always getting in trouble at school for not sitting still or paying attention. Her game
changer came in Gr. 6, when a teacher saw her “gift of gab” as a potential for success!
When her impressive resume was all she had, she realized that her influence was not
spreading around her. Everything was an uphill battle. For about two years, she
struggled with that and with her daughter, who was becoming a teenager and they
weren’t getting along. God took her back to that Gr. 6 moment and she started to see that
in others around her.

We create clutter when we overestimate what we have to say and underestimate how it
will affect those that we say it to. Are we more focused on what we have to say than who
we are saying it to??

Funny video of wife holding up cards in the background.
Fear of failure! When God was calling him to do something big, he had four children
under the age of three. He doesn’t have a high SAT score. They had no financial
support. His mother thought he was nuts!
Psalm 25:3 – No one whose hope is in You will ever be put to shame.
GAME CHANGER!!
