SPEAK INDIA’S HEALTH LITERACY COMPEITION AND FESTIVAL

Topic : Ayushman Bharat: ‘Wellness is a journey to healthy India’

GOI’s Ayushman Bharat Scheme intends to provide health for all

citizens of the country in the long run, starting with less privileged
families. While giving medical insurance cover up to Rs 5 lacs per
year, to over 10 crore poor families, in the event of hospitalization is
an essential palliative to help the needy population in distress, more
important is second part ie preservation and promotion of the health of
people i e healthy life style and prevention through wellness centres.
Before deciding to consult a doctor just introspect whether your
symptom could be due to over -eating, mal-nutrition, fatigue, worry,
dehydration, sleeplessness, excessive mobile use, muscle pain due to
faulty exercise, indoor life free from sunshine etc. If unhealthy life
style practices are excluded and your symptoms persist you may talk
to your family physician, not specialists in the first instance. In any
case neglecting health and running for investigations and medicine is
bane of healthy India! Why should we follow American model of health
care where 3 tr $ ( 19% of GDP) are spent every year and the services
are still unsatisfactory. Can India a developing country and population
133 crores, where healthcare allocation is about 1% of GDP, afford
such a luxury?
