Title: Christ our Righteousness – Kalyanpuri Church.

18/11/2018
Text: Romans 1:16-32; John 3:16-18,
1. NO one can go to heaven by their own religious works
Eg. Nicodemus
Solution: Be born again – meaning – receive, go, through the work of Jesus’ cross only.
Problem: Because of sin. Romans 1:16-32

2. No one is righteous – Rom 3:10-18 as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not

one; (11) no one understands; no one seeks for God. (12) All have turned aside;
together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” (13) “Their
throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive.” “The venom of asps is
under their lips.” (14) “Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.” (15) “Their feet
are swift to shed blood; (16) in their paths are ruin and misery, (17) and the way of
peace they have not known.” (18) “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

No one is righteous.

3. Everyone sins – Everyone’s born in sin and therefore right away commits sin. Rom 3.23
What’s the sign that even the so-called saints of the earth suffers from and cannot
escape from it?
Sin, Self - indulgence
Read Matthew 23:24-25
Colossians 2:21-23

4. There’s no other way to be saved, because all of our good deeds are like filthy rags in
the eyes of God.
5. Therefore, there’s only one way in order to be saved? And that is – come, receive
through the righteousness of Jesus Christ, He bought and purchased for you on the
cross. This is the reason why He came down to earth. Believe in Him and you will be
saved. (Justified, declared righteous before God) But for that you must confess your
sins and your inability to save yourself to God. And surrender your life to Jesus

Do it by faith? For without faith, no one will see God and no one can please God.

Augustine said – If Faith is not based on what we cannot see, it’s not faith.

Rom 10:6-10 But the righteousness based on faith says, “Do not say in your heart,
‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down) (7) “or ‘Who will
descend into the abyss?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). (8) But what
does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word
of faith that we proclaim); (9) because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is
Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be
saved. (10) For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one
confesses and is saved.
So, who can be saved?
Only those who believe in Jesus Christ and His works and receive Him for their
Salvation.

Con: So who is Jesus Christ?

He is the Son of God, He is our Righteousness, He is our Saviour. Believe in Him, not
in yourself or any saints of the earth or the works of man, but fully Trust in Him.

APP: Repent of your sins and invite him into your life, to be your only true saviour and
Lord and seek to grow in Him, in the knowledge of Him, to live your life for Him, to
obey Him and His words, and to do what He says, To be His faithful witness, to be His
hands and feet, to help the poor and the needy and to do what is right, to live for his
glory. This is what He wants from you and from us.
