A conversation with Haroon Ullah, Chief Strategy O cer at the Broadcasting Board of Governors, hosted in
partnership with the USC Center on Public Diplomacy.

Ullah will discuss his new book, Digital World War: Islamists, Extremists, and the Fight for Cyber Supremacy,
examining the unprecedented impact of online networks.
As the physical ISIL caliphate loses territory, what role will social media play in the terrorist organization's next
phase? How can social media be used as a tool to bridge the divides between the United States and the Muslim
world?

Haroon Ullah previously covered digital innovation, public diplomacy, and public/private partnerships on the
Secretary of State's Policy Planning Sta . Prior to joining the sta , he served as Senior Advisor at the State
Department on countering violent extremism and media engagement, with an emphasis on digital content
