T-NOVATE COMPETITION

TEACHERS’ INNOVATION CARNIVAL (T-NOVATE) COMPETITION

I NTEGRATI NG ALGODOO I NTO FLIPPED CLASSROOM
Abstract
Students find it hard to visualize and conceptualize certain problems and scientific solution
especially in critical subjects like Physics. Conventionally, students tend to look for information
through reading, research and prior experiences on the matter. However, with the help of creative
innovation which involves both the roles of the teachers and students, better learning method can
be applied. Students will play a major role in the class while the teachers will act only as the
mediator. All learning activities are conducted individually or in groups. This learning method will
incorporate the popular concept of “flipped classroom” and the application of relevant and
effective computer technology.
The use of computer applications will aid the students in solving and unravelling problems
related to the topics that they are learning. The invention of learning applications such as the
interactive 2D Physics simulator, “Algodoo” and the virtual bulletin board, “Padlet” have been
proven to help and guide the students to be more adequate in problem-solving. This is because
through the abovementioned applications discussion and idea sharing can be done effectively and
simulator can be designed immediately.
Collaboration among the students will take place hence, producing students who are able to
think creatively and critically. Students will find an effective platform for them to understand the
lessons better. Apart from that, they will also be more appreciative towards technology and its
value. This will nurture the concept of logic and wisdom in using technology while they are
learning.

Objectives
1. To promote students-centered learning style
2. To implement inquiry based learning among
the students
3. To reduce material cost in learning
4. To strengthen the concept by using Algodoo
5. To promote the 21st century learning skill
through Padlet

Value Added Usefulness

1. Attractive appearance of the software that 1. The traditional way of teaching can be
makes the lesson engaged. overcomed by using this attractive software
2. Increase students motivation and interest in 2. Results can be seen by the students
learning Physics and Science immediately, thus making the students
understand better
