How to install Plugins & Extension in Sketchup to increase

productivity
There are two ways to install sketchup plugins.

1.3d warehouse

2. From 3rd party source

Method 1 .The Extension Warehouse

SketchUp 2013 introduced the Extension Warehouse, which is an online repository of

extensions/plugins.

 If you have Sketchup 2013 or newer, you will be able to access to the extension
warehouse. Click here to download the latest version of Sketchup.
 To access the extension warehouse go to Window > Extension Warehouse.

It will open this window:

 Sign into your Google Account. If you’re not signed in you won’t be able to download or
install the extensions this way.
 Once you find the extension you want, simply click Install and follow the instructions.

Method 1 2. 3rd party source

However, there is no single repository or store for obtaining these plugins. You have to locate the
various community-driven sites yourself. There is also no one-click installation for these plugins.
Sometimes they come as a single .rb file, sometimes as a .zip or .rbz file, technically .rbz file is
nothing more than a renamed .zip file.

 Sketchup Extension Warehouse – By far the best place to get extensions. This is the
safest and easier place to go to find what you need.
 Smustard –there are more paid plugins here than not.
 Ruby Library Depot – This site has a huge list of free plugins and extensions to sort
through.

This one is my favourite.

 SketchUcation : You will find updated plugins on this site very first compared to othe
sites

If you have a plugin distributed as .zip you can in many cases just rename it to .rbz and use the
Install Extension feature in SketchUp. But beware that there could be plugins that need
special actions in order to install correctly so always read the instructions first!

Installing RBZ files in SketchUp

 Go to Window>Preferences
 On the left make sure you have Extensions selected

 Click Install Extension at the bottom left

 Navigate to location you saved your .rbz file, select it, and hit OK

A warning dialog asks to confirm that you want to install this plugin and that you are aware that it
makes changes to your file system. Hit Yes and then OK

Note: If you’d like you toggle your extensions on or off, you can do that using the check boxes next to
your extension name in the Preferences dialog.
Installing RB files in SketchUp

If you have a file with the .rb extension, you can install the plugin by placing the Ruby script
file into the appropriate folder, and then restarting SketchUp.

your keyboard, the click Go in the menu bar > Library > Application Support >
SketchUp # > SketchUp > Plugins
 Version 8 and older: [YOUR USER NAME]/Library/Application Support/Google
SketchUp #/SketchUp/plugins

Once you restart your sketchup you can find your Plugin in Plugin Tab or in Tool tab
Installing Plugins through ‘Simple Plugin Install’

SketchUp's "Install Extension" button only allows .RBZ files, and you have to navigate through
several clicks to get to the button.

This small and simple utility to make it easier to install .RBZ, .ZIP packages. It also let you pick
.RB files

Go to Extension > Install > Select the type of file you want to install > Navigate the file and hit
Open
