"B
Best practtice"

A.1 General
Cleaning methods described are rec commended as "best pra actices" whichh lead to the required cleeanliness level.
Others mayy also be app
plied when it has been re liably proven
n that the level of cleanlinness specified in this
standard ca
an be achieveed recurrentlly.

A.3 Cleaning / degreasing with organ

nic fluids
Organic cleaning fluids are
a suitable for cleaning and degreas
sing metallic surfaces. Thhe following aspects have
e
to be consid
dered:
 Each component shall be clea
aned prior to
o assembly.
 The ccleaning fluid
d shall not altter the prope
erties of the material
m to be
e cleaned; thhis applies es
specially for
non-mmetallic mateerials.
 Use h
halogenated organic com
mpounds. Alte
ernatively, Is
sopropanol or Acetone m
may be used.
 Safetty issues sha
all be conside
ered (emissio
on limits, flam
mmability, he
ealth hazardss etc.).
 In casse of using wetted
w clothe
es for cleanin
ng, special caare is needed
d to remove organic conttaminations
from surfaces to be
b cleaned ra ather than to
o distribute th
hem uniformlly.
 In casse of using bath
b cleaning
g fluids they sshall be rege
enerated in tiime.
 The ccleaned surfa
aces shall be
e carefully drried to evapo
orate all clean
ning fluid ressidues.

A.4 Cleaning / degreasing with aqueo

ous fluids
Aqueous cle
eaning fluidss with tenside
es are suitab
ble for cleanin easing metalllic surfaces. The followin
ng and degre ng
aspects sha
all be consideered in case of usage:
 Each component shall be clea
aned prior to
o assembly.
 The ccleaning fluid
d shall not co
orrode the ma
aterials to be
e cleaned.
 The ccleaning effe
ect strongly depends on te enside conce
entration, tem
mperature annd mechanic
cal movemen
nt
(use of ultrasonics, concentraated jets etc.)).
 Bath cleaning fluids shall be regenerated
r in time.
 The ccleaned surfa
aces shall be
e carefully rin
nsed with deionized wate
er to remove all tenside re
esidues.

A.5 Prreservation
n of cleanliiness
If preservatiion of cleanliiness is carried out in acccordance witth Para. 3.6 or
o in accordaance with a standard
s
mentioned iin Para. A.1 (see note) th hen preserva ation is accep
pted.
