In the past, many people used to travel to their place of work. With increased use of computers, the internet and smartphones, more and
more people are starting to work from home. Do the advantages of this trend outweigh its disadvantages?

Nowadays, with dramatic development of the Internet, laptops and smartphones can be
easily connected to Wifi, 4G or 5G. This changed the way people go to work every day
in decades ago into able to completely finish their tasks just only staying at home.

It is obvious that an enormous advantage of working from home because of technology

expansion is saving money of petrol, car maintenance or bus fees when commuting to
the office every day. Moreover, workers can start the job right after getting up for
example, instead of waiting about 30 minutes or more in the case of the peak hours to
travel to the company. Do the tasks whenever and whatever people want, it means that
they have the highest flexible control their jobs by portable gadgets. Another considerable
benefit of working from home is saving lives, according to WHO’s statistics, there was
approximately 14 000 people lose their lives each year in Vietnam as a result of road
traffic crashes.

In contrast, this trend also gives many drawbacks to one’s lifestyle. It is clear that people
who are familiar with staying inside and tending to do a lot of tasks via computers such
as shopping online, ordering food, chatting and so on; Workers also changed their
characteristics, more inverted and less outside activities. Of course, in the long run, it
harms their health and causes diabetes as well as heart attaches at very young age.
Furthermore, the embarrassment of face-to-face communication because netizens spend
a lot of time on the Internet and social medias like Facebook, Whatsapp and Switter
more often than the past. Despite this, working from home is a significant positive change
of the computer age and the benefits surely far outweigh the risks.

In sum, with the fast growth of technology, working from home is more and more popular,
its advantages are presented by above reasons. However, if we spend all day with our
computers and stay at home all time, too much of something is not good, sometimes
communicating and discussing with co-workers are the ways to help releasing stress.
