PREFABRICATED VERTICAL DRAINS
1.0 OBJECTIVE
The objective of this method statement is to carry out Prefabricated Vertical Drain (PVD) for
PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION AND COMPLETION OF EARTHWORKS AND OTHER
RELATED WORKS FOR DEVELOPMENT OF PHASE 2 (R11), AT BANDAR BUKIT RAJA 2,
MUKIM KAPAR, DISTRICT OF KLANG, SELANGOR DARUL EHSAN FOR MESSR. SIME
DARBY USJ DEVELOPMENT SDN. BHD.
2.0 SCOPE
The scope of this method statement applies for Prefabricated Vertical Drain (PVD) at Bukit Raja
R11 project.

6.0 MATERIALS
Sand, Drain roll, Alidrain HB65 Prefabricated Vertical Drain or equivalent, Anchor Plate
Handling : Handling of all fills materials using excavator and dump truck.
Storage : All suitable material to be used on site shall be stored at designated area.

Working platform
10.1 Identify and ascertain that the areas to carry out the PVD works as per drawings.
10.3 Working platform prepared by earthworks contractor and mark the location /point of PVD point
(Triangular Grid Spacing of PVD at 1.1m or 1.2m c/c)
10.4 Laying Non-Woven Geotextile TS 20 before laying spread, level and compact 400mm thick
drainage blanket as per determine in the drawing
10.5 Carry out the installation of predefine depth will define by client / consultant or as per mention
in drawing.
10.6 Setting out and marked with peg to define the actual position of drain in triangular spacing as
per shown on drawing.
10.7 The individual of drain position will be marked by pulling a nylon string and the anchor plate will
be used to mark the position of drain.
10.8 The drain roll is mounted on the side of leader allowing the drain to fed into the mandrel through
a series of rollers.
10.9 Installed the mandrel to the design depth, once the mandrel clears to ground surface the drain
will be cut off 200mm above ground level (as per drawing).
10.10 Repeat the 10.5 – 10.8 step for all of the PVD point.
10.11 Lay, spread and compact the final layer (200 – 300mm) of sand blanket.
10.12 Carry out the construction of dewatering point as per directed by S.O / R.E
10.13 Construct the scupper drain using the approved granular material to drain out the water into the
drainage ditch.
