Waze Social GPS Maps & Traf〠〠c

Waze is a free Navigation app that relies on its community for its traf종닉c information, so it's just as well
that it's one of the most popular apps of its kind on the Play Store. As a member of the Waze
community, you can report accidents, police traps and road closures, which then get cross-referenced
with other users' input and broadcast for other users. It also has a very nice interface and a few other
nifty features, such as showing you the cheapest gas stations en route, and a points-based system,
where being an active member of the community sees you climb the Waze ranks.

Maps.Me - Of‱ⴠine Map & Routing

Maps.Me was well worth the US$4.99 price tag it used to have on the Play Store, so imagine our
delight when the app was made absolutely free. If you haven't picked this one up already, we highly
recommend it, because not only is it one of the best Android map apps available – with a clear and
simple UI – but it also works of耀᰸ine and includes points of interest such as subway stations, ATMs,
petrol stations, and so on.

The app formerly known as Navfree features of耀᰸ine search, voice navigation, and a neat interface that
takes cues from Android (complete with the iconic hamburger menu). It integrates with Google Street
View and Foursquare, and provides great-looking HD maps for more than 30 countries. It also includes
community map reports, real-time traf종닉c information, and OSM maps, which can be used of耀᰸ine.

network accounts like Facebook and Twitter, and set turn-by-turn directions to events you're scheduled
to attend. The 종닉rst map is free (you can choose from a specialized list), and then CoPilot functions in
license form. If you buy the premium version, you get 12 months traf종닉c information for free, too.

MapFactor uses OpenStreetMaps (OSM) map data, which gets installed on your device so you don't
need an internet connection when using it. MapFactor offers all the usual bells and whistles of SatNav,
with turn-by-turn directions, voice navigation in several languages, and the option to change your route
depending on whether you're driving a car, a truck, or just walking. It also includes audible noise
warnings when you approach speed cameras – not that you would ever dream of breaking the speed
limit, would you now?

This free version of OsmAnd offers everything you need for easy of耀᰸ine navigation. The app uses OSM
data, and is updated regularly to take into account new roads, traf종닉c lights, and so on. The paid version
(US$5.99) provides information from Wikipedia to show you points of interest along your route (great
for freewheeling road trips). It's a great app for hikers and cyclists too, with a special display mode
showing bike routes, walking paths, and contours to indicate steepness.

TomTom
The physical SatNav is all but dead, but the legendary TomTom lives on in Android form. The maps
are updated for a lifetime, there are also multiple navigation options, all of which are available of耀᰸ine. A
new version recently came out to make it better suited to Android Lollipop, and it offers real-time traf종닉c
information, 3D landmarks and buildings, and camera alerts. The paid versions are quite expensive,
but offer detailed maps for all the regions in question. if you bought the old TomTom app, you can
update it to the new one by following the instructions on TomTom's support page.

2 Tom tom is a scam for me. Paid 3 years ago for a lifetime update version, now they ask me to
pay for each year except the 2 종닉rst year at a discount rate. Asked for a refund which was
refused by tomtom. I 종닉lled a complaint to google play store and they accepted it. bye bye
tomtom

1 The online feature is totally useless. Not being able to use search of to navigate with really
makes it useless.

1 I'm new to kayaking in Sarasota Bay (SW Florida), and am trying to 종닉nd a map app that will
track where I've just kayaked on the Bay and, more important, give me directions to get back to
any point on my journey (especially, my starting point!). I'd also like to save these tracks, so I
can return to any point or repeat any trip on future kayaking expeditions.

Does such an app exist? I haven't been able to 종닉nd it, if it does.

1 I am able to do this with my Garmin GPSMap 62s standalone GPS, and then upload these
saved tracks to BaseCamp.
But this topo-friendly GPSMap 62s can't do turn by turn spoken navigation as Google Maps
can!

2 I would check out the free Runkeeper. I use it for Hiking and Biking. The routes are always

16 Backcountry Navigator. Not turn by turn street nav, but for hiking, camping, geocaching and
that sort of traditional GPS use.

1 I see many of these app's use the same mapping database's. If you already have say OSM
installed do the additional GPS app's reinstall all that map data? I think one time is enough.
Does anybody no?

1 Navmii previously navfree in my opinion is rubbish. Very buggy. Voice works 1/4 of the time ( I
paid for Stephen Fry...). My wife and I get into 종닉ghts trying to navigste with it. She uses google
maps ans laughs at my navmii.... I've had it for years and am very close to buying an 'in car'
gps. :(

1 Good info and I like the screen caps. I like that you indicate if an app offers of耀᰸ine maps and/or
navigation. However, it neglects to tell the price of each satnav app. For those of us who don't
want to try out each of these, is there a comparison table somewhere (I'm a table person) that
shows more detail like
(1) does the app show the speed limit and
(2) offer a speed limit alarm sound.
(3) what database is used (e.g., TomTom's, Open source maps, Google maps, etc.

2 I use both TomTom go and co pilot at the moment on both my Lenovo tablet and my LG g3.
Tom tom maps are really clear and full of useful traf종닉c info but it is impossible to do more that
a two hour journey because it totally drains the battery on either the tablet or the phone even
though they are connected to a 2.1 amp charger. plugs it costs £ 14 per year. Co pilot works
90% of the time and it is much easier to use when planning future journeys. I've only kept tom
tom because i've already paid for the year.
