FACTUAL WRITING - DEFINITION

1. Factual Writing is a form of writing that requires a step by step account of


an event, activity, place, person or thing
2. The Language used in Factual writing should be semi-formal in nature,
simple and attractive
3. Factual refers to the truth about something
The Great Wall of China is an example of a factual writing
FACT FILE
1. A Fact File can be called a Fact Sheet
2. The Fact File is a one sheet presentation of data that stresses on the key
points in a factual writing or story
3. It is sometimes summary of a longer document

FACT FILE FOR AN EVENT


A Fact File for an Event can contain the following:
When the Event occurred
1. Venue of the Event
2. Programs of the Event (Singing, Praying, Dancing, Drama, Storytelling)
3. Information about participants of the Event
4. Information about the organization or people that organized the event
5. Results or outcome of the Event (where people happy, or sad at the end of
the event)?

FACT FILE FOR A PLACE


A Fact File for a Place can contain the following:
1. Location of the Place
2. Dimensions or size of the place (Height, Width, Length, Rates)
3. Other features about the placet

FACT FILE FOR AN OBJECT


A Fact File for an Object can contain the following:
1. Physical description of the object (colour, design, material used for design)
2. Uses of the Object
3. Special features about the object
4. Dimension or Size of the object (length, width, height)
FACT FILE FOR A PERSON
A Fact File for a Person can contain the following:
1. Physical attributes (skin color, height, fat, thin)
2. Intellectual and emotional qualities (smart, dull, lazy, friendly)
3. Other perceptions (occupation, residence, religion)

3. FIGURES
