About Skoda
History
The Origins of Skoda go back to the 1890’s, when a 26-
year-old bookseller Vaclav Klement with Vaclav Laurin
started a bike repair shop in Czech Republic (then part of
Austria- Hungary), Europe.
Slowly the bike repair shop turned into a bike
manufacturing company.
Their first machine proved to be dangerous and un-
reliable because the engine was mounted on the handle
bar. To design a safer machine they took help from a
German ignition specialist Robert Bosch (Now the founder
of Robert Bosch GmbH)
The Slavia motorcycle made it’s debut in 1899 and the
company became the first motorcycle manufacturing
factory in the central Europe. By 1905 the firm was
manufacturing automobiles, making it the second oldest
car manufacturers in the Czech lands after Tatra.
The first model, Voiturette A, was a success and the
company was established both within Austria-Hungary
and internationally.

When war began in 1914, it started manufacturing for the

armed forces too. Because of the economic conditions in
Czech Republic at the time, Laurin and Klement needed a
strong industrial partner to strengthen and modernise
their company. They were now not only producing a range
of cars, but also trucks, buses, aeroplane engines and
agricultural machinery, such as motorised ploughs. They
merged with Pizen Skodovka Co in 1925 and became
SKODA.
In the early 30s, SKODA had some difficult times. Luckily,
they made a breakthrough with the Type A SKODA
Popular, which was to become a legend in the second half
of the decade. Weighing only 650kg the SKODA 420
Popular could reach 80km/h and was offered at a fantastic
price too.
In 1939 came World War 2. Czechoslovakia was occupied
by the Germans and the period until 1945 was a disruptive
one for SKODA. The civilian car production programme
was very limited and the majority of manufacturing was to
support the German war effort.

After the war, as part of large-scale nationalisation in

Czechoslovakia, the company became a national
enterprise and took over all passenger car production.
SKODA also manufactured the SKODA 440 which, in
1959, evolved into the first Octavia, named because it was
the eighth model to be produced after the end of World
War 2.
With the political changes of 1989, when the Berlin Wall
was brought down, came new market economy conditions.
The government of the Czech Republic and the
management of SKODA began to search for a strong
foreign partner in an effort to secure the company's long
term international competitiveness.
In December 1990, they decided on Volkswagen and a joint
venture began the following year. SKODA became the
fourth brand in the Volkswagen group, alongside
Volkswagen, Audi and Seat. Since then, SKODA has been
a part of Volkswagen group.

About Vinayak Group

Vinayak Cars Pvt Ltd started in the year 2007 and was taken
over as a family business in 2009. It is led by Mr. Suresh
Bafna comprising the strength of close to 400 employees
spread in two metropolitan cities of Bengaluru and Chennai.
Vinayak Cars was initiated with one showroom in
Sheshadripuram (shifted to Sadhashivnagar in 2010) and
service station in K.R.Puram for Skoda.
They expanded the next year with a showroom and another
service centre in Bengaluru for Skoda.
Venturing into the two wheeler market a dealership for
Yamaha Bikes at Domlur was added to the group in 2014
and simultaneously in the same year a new business in the
name and style of V Drive Safe was conceptualized.

Starting Of the service

Once the car has run 15000 km or its been a year since the
car has been bought/last service ( Whichever comes first),
the time comes to give the car for Service.
Once its been a year the Customer Service will update the
owner that his/her car service is due. They will have the
details of the owner from their database form his last service.

Procedures that are carried out at the Starting of the service:

• The owner gets an appointment for the car service.

• Then the owner is appointed a Service Adviser (SA)
• The SA then opens a job card
• The job card will have all the details of the car and the
owner and the details of the job to be carried out on the
car.
• The SA will around the car for any dents, scratches,
breakages of any kind (lamps, windshields and door
glasses etc.)
• To go back to his house or office offer to book him a
taxi.

FAQ’s

Suppose a car meets with an accident whom should the

owner contact about the car?
• The Owner should contact the Customer Care who will
then transfer the call to the Service Adviser who takes
an immediate action.

Is any service free?

• If it’s the first service of the car the as part of the “First
Free Service” by Skoda the labour is free, however the
oil, fuel and air filters does not come under the free
service.

Service

Engine Check
Oil and Oil Filter
Over time, Carbon contamination and acidic combustion
gasses can cause the degradation of the engine oil, hence it is
recommended to replace the engine oil as per schedule.
Routine oil and filter changes help remove particles and
sludge and keep engines at peak condition. It Improves gas

mileage. Poor engine lubrication can lead to increased fuel

consumption.
Timing belt replacement
It's called timing belt because its main job is to precisely
time valve opening and closing with up-and-down
movement of the pistons.

Unfortunately, in most cases, there are no obvious signs

the timing belt is near death; it will just break. That's why
highly rated auto mechanics recommend replacing it
every 60,000 to 100,000 miles.

Coolant
Coolant, which is commonly called antifreeze, is a mixture
of ethylene or propylene glycol and water, usually in a
50/50 ratio. It is the fluid that absorbs heat from the
engine and then dissipates it through the radiator.

Servicing the coolant involves draining and/or flushing

your car's cooling system and then replacing the
old coolant with fresh coolant. Also check the coolant cap
seals and the coolant hoses for any leaks.

Air filter
Any engine that runs by internal combustion of fuel
requires air to operate. That's because without air,

specifically, oxygen, fuels like gasoline and diesel can't

burn and provide the explosive force to power the engine.
The air must be cleaned before it gets sucked into the
engine's air chambers. If not, you run the risk of dust, dirt
and debris quickly fouling up the engine, causing poor
performance. Air Filters prevents harmful debris, dirt
and contaminants from entering your engine

Fuel Check
• Check Fuel cap seal Condition
• Replacing Fuel Filter
Changing the fuel filter is a part of regular maintenance.
Keeping your fuel system properly maintained by
changing the fuel filter prolongs the life of the fuel pump.
Dirt in the fuel is captured by the filter which clogs over
time, causing it to operate less efficiently.
Drive System
1. Checking clutch operation
• It transmits engine power to the gearbox, and
allows transmission to be interrupted while a gear
is selected to move off from a stationary position,
or when gears are changed while the car is moving.

• Gearbox uses mechanical advantage to increase

output torque and reduce RPM. The motor’s shaft
is feed into the gearbox and through a series of
internal gearing provides the torque and speed
conversion.
Both operations (Clutch and gearbox) can be detected by
taking a test drive.

Electrical
• Checking operations of exterior lights.
• Checking horn.
• Checking battery condition and print result.
• Checking dashboard warning lights.
• Checking operations of interior/dashboard lights.

Brakes
Brake Pads: There are two brake
pads on each caliper. They are
constructed of a wearable lining
bonded on to a metal "shoe“.
The pads are mounted in the
caliper, one on each side of the rotor. These pads wear out
with use and need to be replaced. Brake pad life can be
extended by following good driving practices.
Brake fluid: It is a special oil that has
specific properties. It is designed to
withstand cold temperatures without
thickening as well as very high
temperatures without boiling. (If the
brake fluid should boil, it will cause
you to have a spongy pedal and the car
will be hard to stop.) Brake fluid must meet standards that
are set by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
Currently Skoda and all the new generation cars use DOT-4
break fluid.

Tires and wheels

• Check tyre
size and
whether
tyre is
fitted to the
rim
properly.
• Check tire condition and tread depth.
• Check and adjust tyre pressures (including spare).
• Set wheel nut torque to the appropriate setting.
• Check wheel for correct balance (including spare).
Cleaning

Unlike other car washes Vinayak Skoda is more eco-

friendly as it uses waterless / dry wash method to clean the
cars which uses little/ no water. Dry wash is easier to do
than a traditional car wash while producing the exact
same results. It also allows the car detailer to service your
car in narrow spaces while saving surprising amounts of
water.

lubricated sprays to polish and
wash the vehicle’s bodywork. The
spray’s high lubricated
chemicals encapsulate dirt and
dust particles.
After this process interior
vacuuming is done on the seats and
the rest of the interior.
