Creo 4.0 M020 Is Available for Installation

Creo 4.0 is a scalable suite of interoperable, right-sized design applications for users
across the enterprise to more easily participate in and contribute to the product design
process. With these applications, companies can bring better products to market faster by
improving processes such as concept design, detailed design, and verification and
validation.
Installation
Creo 4.0 is packaged with a PTC License Server powered by FlexNet Publisher 11.14.0.
To run Creo 4.0 you must upgrade the PTC license server to 11.14.0. If you are already
running a license server for Pro/ENGINEER® Wildfire® 3.0 or later, Creo Elements/
Direct 5.0 or later, PTC Mathcad® 14.0, PTC Arbortext® Isodraw® 7.0, or PTC
Arbortext Editor 6.0, you must upgrade the PTC License Server to 11.14.0.

Windows Update for C Runtime Is Required for Creo 4.0 M010 and Later
Creo 4.0 M010 and later is built with Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 (VS2015), which is a
compiler change. The machine on which you are running Creo Parametric, Creo Simulate,
Creo Options Modeler, Creo Layout, or Creo Direct must have the Windows update for C
Runtime installed. This also applies to Creo Schematics. When installing these Creo
applications, the installer detects if the correct Windows update for C Runtime is
installed. This applies both to a local installation and when installing from a network.
If you do not have the required Windows update, the steps below describe what occurs
and what action you need to take:
1. The message The Windows update for Universal C Runtime is required in order for the
installation to continue. appears during installation and you are redirected to a
Microsoft web page.
2. There is an automatic exit from the installer.

3
3. Open the Microsoft web page Update for Universal C Runtime in Windows.
4. Install the required update.
After you complete the update, you can install these Creo 4.0 M010 and later,
applications.
Using PTC Installation Assistant
For a streamlined installation of Creo 4.0 applications, you can use the PTC Installation
Assistant on your DVD-ROM. Open the installer, enter your Sales Order Number, and the
Assistant begins the automatic installation:
• Acquires the license file from PTC
• Determines whether the license is floating or fixed and installs the licenses server as
required
• Provides a list of the available products based on the entitlement detailed in the
licenses file and automatically downloads and installs that software from ptc.com.
For the most up-to-date installation information, see the Creo 4.0 Installation and
Administration Guide on the Reference Documents page or click File ▶ Help ▶ Reference
in the application.
Licensing Alternatives for Existing Customers
Existing customers can alternatively use the online licensing tools to request an updated
license pack via e-mail for installation on an existing PTC License Server. To run Creo
4.0 your PTC license pack must have updated licenses at version 35.0. See the licensing
area at http://www.ptc.com/support/index.htm.

Information Related to Windchill

Resolved Issue: Windchill Limitation for Creo Unite Technology with Creo Elements/Direct
The issue described below and in Support article CS268441 is resolved:
When working in a Creo Unite scenario, you should not use the Model Manager Extractor
and Windchill Bulk Migrator to migrate Creo Elements/Direct Modeling data from the
Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager, to Windchill. You cannot directly open and insert
a Creo Elements/Direct Modeling part or assembly from Windchill in Creo Parametric
when using Creo Unite technology. See Support article CS248441 for details.
Chromium Embedded Browser
When using Chromium as the embedded browser in Creo to interact with Windchill, you
cannot view the 3D Creo View based thumbnails on the details page of the Creo models.
Chrome and Chromium based browsers do not support plug-ins, which is the technology
currently used to display the 3D Creo View based thumbnails in Creo. See Support article
CS197208 for details.
Creo View and Windchill Publishing of Non-Native 3D CAD Models Checked into Windchill Is
Supported
In Creo Parametric 4.0 you can natively open CATIA V5, NX, SOLIDWORKS and Creo
Elements/Direct Modeling 3D parts and assemblies from the file system and save and
check-in these designs into Windchill 11.0 M020 and later.

9
The Creo View Adapter for Creo Parametric also provides the ability to publish CATIA
V5, NX, SOLIDWORKS, and Creo Elements/Direct Modeling 3D parts and assemblies
checked into Windchill to the Creo View format. This capability is supported for
Windchill 11.0 M020 and later, using the Creo View 4.0 or later, Adapter for Creo
Parametric.
Single Sign On (SSO) Authentication
The embedded browser for Creo supports authentication to a Windchill server that is
configured for SAML 2.0 single sign-on (SSO) authentication. If you previously
authenticated with a standalone web browser, you will see an additional login request
from the embedded browser for Creo.
Geometric Tolerances (GTOLS) and 3D Printing Tray Assembly Are Supported in Windchill
Additional GTOL parameters are supported in Windchill 11.0 M020 and later. Compound

Issue Resolved in Creo 4.0 M020: ASSIGNED_THICKNESS Parameter in Cabling
In Cabling, the bundle parameter ASSIGNED_THICKNESS was ignored resulting in
empty bundles appearing very thin. This issue is resolved in Creo Parametric 4.0 M020.
Cabling uses the bundle parameter ASSIGNED_THICKNESS to control the thickness of
the bundle and overrides the diameter that is computed from the contents of the bundle.
For newly created bundles this issue is resolved. For designs saved in Creo 3.0, drawings
and models are updated on retrieval and bundle thickness appears according to the
ASSIGNED_THICKNESS parameter.
Performing an Automatic Search in Additive Manufacturing
When performing an automatic search, only printers registered through the GrabCAD
print application are discoverable by Stratasys 3D printers.
Issue Resolved in Creo 4.0 M010: Creo ModelCHECK in Creo Unite Scenario
The issue described in the next paragraph is resolved in Creo Parametric 4.0 M010 and
later.
In Creo 4.0 F000, Creo Elements/Direct .sdac and .sdpc files are not applicable to
Creo ModelCHECK in Creo Unite scenarios. It is not possible to check these files by
opening them in Creo Parametric. See Support article CS248781 for details.
