for the people for a long time. After 2000's the areas near the city started becoming
industrialized and over the years the industrial wastes were discharged into the river. Due
to the rapid growth of industries, the river water became polluted to an extent that the
water showed signs of eutrophication and zero dissolved oxygen. People were not able to
use the river water for agriculture and household so they had to shift to ground water.
Naturally the ground water had a good depth and recharge was sufficient. . But for two
consecutive years there was insufficient rainfall in the area, which led insufficient

Arsenic exists naturally. As a result people got exposed to Arsenic contaminated water,
and faced health problems. Also their livelihoods got affected greatly. Thus, both surface
and ground water contamination created water scarcity problem in that area, which
affected the economic growth, social stability and environmental aspects in that area at a
great extent. On the other hand, the intensity of hourly rainfall has also increased for the
last two seasons. But because of the unplanned paved areas, roads and buildings, it
created water logging for certain period of time. In addition to that, ground water wasn’t
recharging properly and surface water pollution hasn't diluted properly because of
