II. HISTORY/BACKGROUND OF THE STATION

DZRD 981 Sonshine Radio is currently the no. 1 Alternative Radio Station in Pangasinan
and no. 2 most listened AM Radio Station in the province based on the recent survey done by a
prestigious private survey firm called AC Nelsien. DZRD owned and managed by Sonshine
Media Network International (SMNI). It is equipped with a brand new 10,000 watts US-made
digital transmitter and computerized studio facilities. DZRD-Dagupan digital signal is clearly
heard in the entire province of Pangasinan, Tarlac, Benguet, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Nueva Ecija
and Zambales.

DZRD is using a Tagalog medium to cater to multifarious dialect-speaking audience
