1. What is Mental Health?

According to WHO, mental health is a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his
or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully,
and is able to make a contribution to his or her community. It refers to our cognitive, behavioral, and
emotional wellbeing - it is all about how we think, feel, behave, how we handle stress, relate to
others, and make choices.

2. How will you take care of your mental health?

I can take care of my mental health by staying positive and avoiding negative thoughts.
Connect to yourself and reflect on the good things that happened to you. It is also good to talk about
your feelings and do not just keep them in your heart so that it won’t burden you for the rest of your
life. Let it out and breathe. Keep in touch with people you love the most. Keep the line of
communication open, catching up with someone face to face or even a simple chat can ease the
stress, help your mood and improve the way you feel overall. Also, try to seek for help when you feel
so exhausted and you feel like you can’t do it anymore because we all get tired sometimes and asking
for help isn’t a sign of weakness. Next is to focus on your strengths and improve them instead of
weeping over your weaknesses. Do something you’re good at or something that you enjoy doing. It
is important to have time for recreation, have fun sometimes and engage on outdoor activities. Learn
to take a break and give yourself some ‘me time’. Last is to accept who you are. We are all unique in
different beautiful ways. Try to feel good about yourself will boost your confidence. Having trust in
yourself and believing in your own capacities will help you solve problems easily instead of
worrying that you can’t do it. Believe so that you may understand. (Saint Augustine)
3. Why is mental health important?

Mental health is important because it affects how we think, feel, and act. With positive
mental health, you can cope up with stresses of life easily; you can work productively, and have
meaningful and health relationship with other people. It also supports our ability to make good
choices, maintain physical health and well-being and discover our potential. When we are free of
depression, anxiety, excessive stress and worry, addictions, and other psychological problems, we are
more able to live our lives to the fullest.
