Lesson Observation Notes:

Mediation outside to begin with, lovely to get the class settled and ready for the day to
start. The students were very calm and ready to listen after that.
Clear instructions to students, good that you asked some questions about what the students
were to do. Much better questioning.
Just be careful of saying 'you guys', possibly refer to as 'year 2s', ‘students’, etc.
Keep practicing on keeping those instructions concise.
Well-structured mat time, good balance of questions and talking.
Nice that you had the group materials already organised, your group numbers ended up
being a little skewed, maybe this was because of the extras from the other classes?
Nice call to attention, just wait for students to be quiet before you continue.
Good to hear you have set up Kathy (EA) with a role for the day working with Alena.
Good positive reinforcement, rather than focusing on the negative.
Excellent working around all the students and giving them advice, keep checking around the
room to ensure you aren’t missing hands up, etc.
You were using a zariety of calls to attention. This was good. Were there some that your felt
worked better than others?
Conclusion brings back the main points of the lesson. Lovely to see you read the story at the
end of the lesson, good that you are mixing it up from the normal activities of the lesson.
Good timing.

To do:
Put your FPD for Literacy on Sonia.
Great to see your lesson plans and reflections on your Weebly, would be a good idea to put
this link under your documents too on Sonia?
Also fill out the classroom observation form on Sonia.

Great lesson plan, you are putting a lot of effort in to the planning side of things. You can
now move onto using the Daily Work Pad (search for it on the ND website) where you copy
and paste over that day’s section from the FPD.
