‹ (Adapted from Intentional Peer Support: An Alternative Approach - Shery Mead 2005
‹ What is Peer Support
‹ Peer Support is about connecting with someone in a way that
contributes to both people learning and growing.
‹ It is not about being a paid friend or taking care of someone and
definitely not about providing treatment.
‹ Peer Support
‹ Is about giving and receiving,
‹ Is not based on psychiatric models or diagnoses,
‹ Encourages one another to re-evaluate how we’ve come to know
what we know,
‹ Create relationships that make it ok to not just be in peer
relationships, but to use them to take a bigger look at how we
have learned to operate in the world,
‹ Is intentional.
