2. Course Objectives:

1. To describe the fundamentals of Operations Management in both manufacturing and service


organizations and analyze the interdependence of the operations functions with the other key
functional areas of a firm.
2. To enable students to examine various factors involved in product and process selection and
facility location decisions in operations.
3. To enable students to describe the factors involved in ergonomics, work and job design.
4. To enable students to describe the importance of Quality management, maintenance systems and
value analysis.
5. To enable students to understand the recent trends in production and operations management.
6. To enable students to appropriately apply production planning and control concepts in different
types of production systems
7. To enable students to appropriately apply concepts of facility layouts.

These practice sessions is not included in the sessions plan. Students can use the general lab
