WIRE ROPE SLING
MOVIE
Wire Rope
1. Wires/Kawat
2. Strand : formed by multi-
wire/ Pilinan : disusun
oleh beberapa kawat
3. A core of steel or fibers
/Inti baik dari baja atau
serat
36
Two basic types of rope
• Stranded rope
• Spiral rope
Spiral Rope
of fibre or steel.
core (IWRC)
Cores for Stranded Steel Wire Rope
• The core maintains the circular section of the rope by supporting the
strands around it
• 2 main types of core:-
– Fibre cores
• natural (e.g. Manila, Jute or Sisal) = FC
• man made (e.g. polypropylene) = FFC
– Steel cores
• Wire Strand Core (WSC)
• Independent Wire Rope Core (IWRC)

Wire Rope Sling Inspection
Tali tambang harus diperiksa oleh Wire rope slings must be inspected
orang yang kompeten setiap hari by a competent person each day
sebelum digunakan dan selama before being used and regularly
penggunaan. Sling harus tidak during use. Slings must be removed
digunakan ketika beberapa kondisi di from service when any of the
bawah ini ditemukan: following condition exist :
Hook dan pengunci berubah Hooks and latches deformed or
bentuk atau rusak (jika ada) damaged (if any)
Tidak ada identifikasi pembuat, No identification stating

46
Wire Rope Sling Inspection
– Pengikisan parah yang terpusat – Severe localized abrasion or
scraping
– Perubahan bentuk seperti yang
dijelaskan di slide tambang – Deformation found like in wire

Examples of External Wear
Internal
Cannot be seen without
opening ropes up. More
difficult to assess
Examples of External and Internal Corrosion
Scrubbing (Abrasion)
• Normal - expected due to rope duty
– e.g. drag rope on dragline; trawl warp
• Abnormal - unexpected
– (e. g. contact with adjacent structure; seized
sheave/pulley/roller/fairlead; undersized
sheaves/pulleys; misaligned sheaves/pulleys)
Abnormal abrasion Heat generated Possibility of martensite being formed
Examples of heavy wear & abrasion
Mechanical Damage
• During storage/handling
• During installation - kinks & bends
• Damage from vehicles
• Rope jumping out of sheave
• Rope trapped
• Incorrectly profiled sheave grooves
• Poor spooling at drum
Mechanical Damage & Abrasion
Mechanical Damage
Mechanical Damage
Thermal Damage
• Too high operating temperature - loss in strength
• Electric arcing during welding - localised damage
• Lightening
Thermal (Heat) Damage
Malformations
Resulting From:
– Poor installation technique
– Shock loading
– Unacceptable fleet angle - causing rolling of rope
– Lack of maintenance (equipment and/or rope)
Malformation
Rotation
• Incorrect handling/installation techniques
• Torsional fatigue
Broken Wires (Fatigue)
Termination Failures
Incorrect selection of termination
Inadequate inspection/examination

Chain Sling Inspection
Rantai disyaratkan untuk diperiksa oleh Chain slings are required to be

penggunaan dan secara periodik dah periodically with a record kept.
hasilnya disimpan baik. Pemeriksaan Inspection includes the chain itself and
termasuk mata rantai itu sendiri dan all attachments for wears, nicks,
semua bagian lain terhadap aus, breaks, gouges, stretching, bending,
lubang, retak, putus, cuil, memanjang, twisting, weld spatter, corrosion,
bengkok, terpuntir, terpercik las2an, discoloration from excessive
korosi, perubahan warna karena panas temperature and damage to hooks and

Chain Safety Tips
• Keep shock loading to a minimum
• Never shorten by tying knots or bolting links
together
• Never use homemade links
• Never use repair links in body of alloy chain
• Never weld on chain
• If links bind chain is over stretched
• Always use softeners on corners of rectangular
loads. (reduces transverse loading)
121
Chain Sling Inspection
• Serial number & SWL is clearly define
• MASTER LINK, COUPLING LINK, HOOK
– Wear more than 8%
– Crack
– Gouge or Nick
– Excessive corrosion
– Bent
• CHAIN
– Wear more than these value
– Crack
– Gouge or Nick
– Excessive corrosion
– Elongation more than 2%
– Bent or twist
– or twist

MANUAL LIFTING & HANDLING
Tujuan
231
Kaki terperangkap!
232
Tulang belakang patah!
233
Jari remuk
Ketika mencoba untuk
memindahkan sebuah clamp,
jari seorang pekerja
penanganan barang
terperangkap antara clamp
dengan pallet dan patah.
!
234
Situasi nyata - Isyarat & Postur
235
postur.

Kaki terperangkap, tulang
belakang patah, jari remuk
237
Peran Supervisor
Untuk membuat tim anda mematuhi panduan "LAKUKAN & JANGAN" Isyarat,
Postur & Tool:
238
Workshop Isyarat, Postur & Tool (Perkakas)
Latihan
Kunjungi lokasi konstruksi/bengkel perawatan:
