In time for school, Rotary distributes bags
and supplies to 80 indigent children of the
settlement area in Western Bicutan, Taguig.

young children in the informal settlement area
within Western Bicutan, Taguig. Food and drinks
for the occasion were provided by Ms. Anna
Gan, sister of PP Beth Sy.
Rotaractor of Holy Spirit Mariel Joy Correa led
youth volunteers in the distribution of gifts to the
children. Her pleasant demeanor further livened
up the joyful event.
Friends and family joined in the distribution pro-
gram. They included former Rotaractor Karz
Molina and members of the family of Jerry &
guardian Cristy Gabarda.
The beneficiaries are children of families in a
poor community in Sitio Maliwanag staging area,
Western Bicutan, Taguig. Fr Rey Angeles,
chaplain of the San Lorenzo Ruiz Chapel has
been catering to the spiritual needs of the poor
community for the last four (4) years.
The small, improvised chapel was miraculously
spared by the fire last January 19, 2018 when
the winds blew the flames away from the chapel.
For several years now, this community has been
receiving assistance from PP Beth Sy, now PN
Jerry Sy and PP Chinchin Jurado of the Rotary
Club of Holy Spirit.

2019): As Rotary closes its 110th
annual international meeting at the
Hamburg Messe und Congress on 5
June, Rotary members will bring
home indelible memories and new
insights on how to improve lives and
bring positive, lasting change to
communities around the world.
In his keynote address, Rotary Inter-
national President Barry Rassin
said, “Service to others is an integral
part of our mission, whether it’s
through the plans and actions of in-
dividual clubs, Rotary’s six areas of
focus, or the transformational sup-
port of The Rotary Foundation. And
the service that most defines us and
our global mission is the ongoing
goal to rid the world of polio.”

no child anywhere will ever again be
paralyzed by the poliovirus.”
German Rotary members have con-
tributed more than US$31 million to
end polio, and on 1 July 2020, Hol-
ger Knaack, owner of the real es-
tate company Knaack KG, will over-
see this effort as the first German to
serve as Rotary International presi-
dent. Knaack of Ratzeburg said, “I’m
honored to have the confidence and
support of Rotary’s 1.2 million mem-
bers,” said Knaack. “As president, I
plan to highlight the best Rotary has

grounds can see themselves re-
flected in our service and impact.”

achieved a 99.9 percent reduction in
polio cases since spearheading the
initiative more than 30 years ago.
Since then, Rotary members have

less volunteer hours to protect more

tries from polio. Today, just two
countries continue to report cases of

In November 2018 ROSE MARIE CAŇONASO,
BSBA major at the University of the East, another de-
serving youth leader, obtained the similar certification.
Both Rose Marie and Jaemina have been serving the
community through the INTERACT CLUB of Holy
Spirit National High School and the ROTARACT
CLUB OF HOLY SPIRIT.
It’s part of the unique CREDENTIALS BUILD UP

and the OSRAC event in particular, the last
major club activity of her term as president.
