2. SCOPE OF WORK:
This Construction Work Procedure is applicable for execution of AAC Block Work for Project 7
Acres, Gandipet Hyderabad.

This work procedure includes the following:


a. PREPARATION
b. CONNECTIONS
c. BLOCK LAYING
d. TOLERANCE
e. INSPECTION CHECKLISTS

3. SECTION: TOOL

1. Measuring Box  For mortar mixing if required.

4. WORK SEQUENCE:

 Surface Preparation.
 Layout Marking.
 1st layer Inspection.
 Block work laying Procedure.
 Bed And Lintel preparation at the doors.
 Curing.

5. CONSTRUCTION METHODOLOGY:

5.0.1 Submittals
 Submit AAC blocks supplier and sample for the consultant's approval.
 Submit AAC blocks Adhesive for the consultant's approval.

5.0.2 Preparations

 The area / floor proposed to start the block work activity should be cleaned from any debris, old
mortar, dust, …
 Ensure Tie rod hole packing & Hacking had done for RCC structures for bonding between block
work and RCC wall.
 Ensure floor levels to be marked for reference.
 The Engineer will set out all the required axes, offset lines and points.
 The block work area will be wetted with water.
 The adhesive to be used instead of mortar bed for AAC Blocks.
 The base bed courses must invariably be laid in ordinary mason's mortar, the Composition of
bedding mortar 1:6 (1cement:6 sand).
 The joint adhesive thickness should be approximately 2-3 mm, and the thickness of joint for base
course bed should be at least 12.5 mm.

5.0.3 Connections

 Wall to Wall connections: In case of L connection interlocking bond will be used, and the
galvanized steel ties will be used every three courses in case of T connection.
 Wall to column Connection: Mason's mortar should be used at all wall to column Interface joints,
columns should be brushed dust-free, and if necessary roughened by basting to ensure good
bond. Walls should be mechanically tied to columns with30 cm steel anchor rods 2T10 mm every
two courses.

 In case of Wall to beam Connections and wall to floor soffit connections: ordinary mason's
mortar should be used.
5.0.4 Block laying:

The first course of the block will be laid in a full bed of ordinary mortar. This will be inspected for
internal dimensions, door sizes, distances …
The block mason will complete the wall on the approved first course.
The maximum height to be built in one day is 0.9 m (4 courses).
For the walls not have opening for doors and windows the heights more than 3 meters, concrete
tie beam 200 mm depth will be poured for stiffness purposes.
For the walls have opening for doors and/or windows the overhead lintels should be continue
along the wall and in this case no need for concrete tie beams.
In-situ reinforced concrete lintels and beams should be 4T10 and T8/30 cm stirrups.
Cast-in-situ reinforced concrete window sills with 200 mm depth, 4T10 and T8/30cm
stirrups.4.4.8 Keep AAC unit work free of mortar droppings as work progresses and, at
completion of work, rub AAC unit to remove excess mortar.
The block walls will be finally inspected by Engineer for verticality, alignment …..
Tolerances:
 Maximum variation from plumb: 0.6mm in 3 m, not exceeding 0.9mm in 6m.2. Maximum
variation from level: 0.6 mm in 6m, not exceeding 12.5mm in 15 more.
 No Tolerance for line.

6. SECTION: SAFETY
 All workers should wear safety PPEs.
 Proper working platform should be made.
 Proper housekeeping should be ensured at the place of execution.
 Scaffolding and its base shall be strong enough to withstand all loads which are likely to
Come. (Dead and live and wind loads).
 Proper inclined supports and handrail shall be provided in case of height of scaffoldings
More than 3m.
 Not to be applied on damp / wet areas & areas subject to moisture restoration.

7. SECTION: INSPECTION AND DOCUMENTATION.

Documents to be maintained as per the relevant format, Checklist should be followed in flat
basis. All works shall be performed with Manufacturer’s Specifications.
