In front of each question is given the value that is assigned to each point, the total grade is the sum of all
questions grade, it will be a maximum of 5 and a minimum of 0.0, questions have to be solved in individual
form and over the table only is permitted a pen and a calculator to solve the test (questions solved on pencil
will not be accepted for correction).
Read carefully the test before you answer and take the necessary time to solve it, the total time for the test
is 120 minutes and it is measured from the beginning of the probe.

Solve,
1- 2 points.
The picture shown below is a column which is fixed on the top (a), this column has a circular cross
section area with a variable radius that is a function of its height (z axis), the radium equation is as
follows:

1
  ∗ 0,8
2

If the column made of aluminum 6061-T6 which has a density of 2,71_Mg/m^3 is subjected to a
load of 80_KN and a bending moment of 40_KN*m that is applied on the base “B” on the “r” axis
direction and taking into account the column weight show:

a. The stress components on the column when z=h

b. The axial stress (z axis) on all points of the column, this mean for all point on the beam.
c. The maximum column height (h) before failure.

The Body shown below is subjected to surface tractions Tx and Ty (also shown) such that a state of
plane stress results. If body forces are neglected. (Take K1 and K2 as constants)

If the body forces are neglected:

a- Determine the components of stress on all surfaces.

b- Show that the following stress state satisfies the Cauchy differential equations of
equilibrium at every point in the body.

c- Show that the equilibrium boundary conditions (traction vector or Cauchy´s equations)
area satisfies on both the “x” and “y” faces by the solution proposed above at the
point “x = a” and “y = b”

3- 1 points
Give an explanation of the generalized plane stress. Give an example of this state of stress.
