Across the Sahara Desert by camel


In 2008, photographer Jimmy Cole landed in Algeria, hoping to travel 1,600 kilometres to the
legendary city of Timbuktu, accompanying the Tuareg people of the region.
After being introduced to a group of travelling Tuareg – by the hotel owner he (25) ………… with –
he needed to persuade his new companions of his suitability for the 10-week journey ahead. ‘They
had their doubts,’ Jimmy admits, ‘but eventually they (26) ………… to take me, once I
