Method Statement for Defects Repairing Work

Observation:

The photos show budging of concrete and left-over formwork along the RC wall. The defects
is not a structural defects.

Rectification Method Statement:

1. All extra bulged concrete shall be hacked and removed, the surface shall be roughened
to ensure good bond between existing concrete and newly patched concrete.

2. Clean the substrate thoroughly with fresh water to remove and dust and other
contaminant.

3. Mix sika-Monotop 412 thoroughly as per manufacture’s recommendation.

4. To patch up the surface with Sika Monotop 412

Observation:

The photos show poor concrete casting with signs of spalling of concrete.
Rectification Method Statement:

1. All loose concrete shall be hacked and removed till finding of sound concrete. The
surface shall be made rough with pneumatic tools to ensure good bond between existing
concrete and grouted concrete. All feather edging shall be removed by saw cutting using
diomand cutter.

2. Should the hacking work expose the rebar, grind off the rusted stain on rebar. Inspect
the diameter of the corroded rebar.

3. If diameter of rebar reduce by >10%, replace the corroded bat with new rebar. Extra
hacking of the edges is required until sufficient lap length is provided.

4. Formwork shall be pre-formed and fitted to the repaired area. The formwork shall be
grout tight and should withstand a pressure of 20 psi during grouting.

5. Non-shrink cementitious grout, Sikagrout 215 (Grade 60), shall be mixed thoroughly
according to the manufacturer’s recommendation

6. The operation shall commence at grout pipes at the base or lowest position and proceed
progressively to each grout pipe as the preceding section of formwork is filled by
observation of overflow from outlet pipe.

7. Pressure of 20 psi shall be maintained for a period of one minute and then released.

8. Formwork shall remain in place for a minimum of 72 hours before removal

Rectification Method Statement:

1. All uneven concrete shall be hacked and removed, the surface shall be roughened to
ensure good bond between existing concrete and newly patched concrete

2. Clean the substrate thoroughly with fresh water to remove and dust and other
contaminant.

3. Mix sika-Monotop 412 thoroughly as per manufacture’s recommendation.

4. To patch up the surface with Sika Monotop 412.

Observation:

The photos show leakage of water through the casted concrete.

Rectification Method Statement:

All wet concrete area shall be injected with polyurethane resin incorporates with an electric
pump which delivers and proportions the PU resin accurately and able to achieve pressure of
up to 3000psi. The polyurethane resin recommended for this purpose is SIKAfix101, which
form rubberize sealing once react with water that provide permanent sealing of crack line or
void. Normal PU form foam sealing is not recommended as it become brittle after reacting with
water.

1. Drill 16-18mm dia. Injection holes along side of the leaking area (voids/cracks).

2. The distance of the drilled holes to each other shall be approximately 150mm centers
to centers.

3. Install injection packers in the holes and tighten.

4. Pump Sika Fix 101 at pressure approximate 1500psi into the concrete area
(voids/cracks) which are allowing water infiltrate into unwanted area.

5. Keep pumping, watch for material flow and water appear at the surface of next
packer.

6. Sealing of the cracks/void shall be from bottom and work upwards.

7. The injection packers can be removed when Sika Fix 101 has set. Holes can be filled
and made good using Sika MonoTop 412.
