Stated below are activities and studies during the training period in the palm oil mill.
First day,
1. Safety requirement, basic operation, company rules and regulations (PCM).
2. Operational activities (PCM).
FFB receiving yard
1. Biochemistry of oil synthesis in the field, factors affecting oil synthesis, solutions to
maximize the oil content in the bunch.
2. MPOB definition and grading procedure of Ripe, under-ripe and unripe.
3. Fruit, kernel, mesocarp and cell development with DAP.
4. Factors affecting artificial abscission/ solution to artificial abscission.
5. FFB receiving procedure and deduction for poor quality and rejecting procedure (PCM).
6. FFB feeding procedure and maintains FIFO when feeding FFB hopper (QCE).
7. Analyze oil losses at FFB unloading and feeding operation in the yard (PCM).
8. Identify quality controlling requirement at FFB yard (PCM).
9. New suggestions to improve the quality of the station

Laboratory testing and process quality controlling procedures
1. Study sample analysis in the laboratory (sampling, oil content in the fruits & sludge, oil
Losses, FFA, impurities, moisture, broken kernel, COD, PH) (PCM/QC/PCE)
2. Bunch Analysis (PCM/QC/PCE)
3. New suggestions for improvements
Sterilizer and Press Station
FFB filling in to cages, cooking procedure and cage transfer operation (PCM).
1. Obtaining samples from cooked fruits/ cooking time/Average pressure (PCE).
2. Threshing and empty bunch pressing operation (PCM/PCE).
3. Extraction operation at press machine (PCM/PCE).
4. Oil losses with fiber, dilution and steaming process at press station (PCM/PCE).
5. Identify process controlling requirement at sterilizer and press stations (PCM).
6. Identify and record new critical steps.
7. New suggestion to improve the quality of the station/improvements to optimize the
cooking condition.
Oil Room
1. Study oil separation, heat up operation and total process flow in the oil room (PCM/PCE).
2. Study operation starting procedure in the oil room (PCM/PCE).
3. Ensure quality of process crude palm oil in the station (PCM/PCE).
4. Laboratory testing on press out oil settlement with different parameters. (PCM/QC)
5. Identify oil losses and process controlling requirement at the oil room (PCM, PCE).
6. Identify and record new critical steps.
7. New suggestions to improve the quality of the station/settling efficiency.
