DAY
I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate understanding of how the major internal organs such
as the brain, heart, lungs, liver, stomach, intestines, kidneys, bones, and muscles
keep the body healthy.

B. Performance Standards The learners should be able to construct a prototype model of organism that has
body parts which can survive in a given environment
S4LT-IIa-b-1.1.1.b
C. Learning Competencies/Objectives  Stomach, Intestines and Kidneys
Write the LC code for each
S4LT-IIa-b-1.1.1.b.1
Specific Objectives:
 Construct a model of the Kidney using recycled materials

 The kidneys are paired organs that are as big as your fist and are
II. CONTENT reddish-brown in color. They are the main organs for excretion. The
main function of the kidneys is to remove waste products in the blood
and excrete the wastes in the form of urine.
III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide pages Pp 84-87
2. Learner’s Material pages pp 78-81
3. Textbook pages
4. Additional Materials from Learning
Resource (LR) portal

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new ELICIT
lesson
Match column A with column B. Write the letter of your answer on the
space provided.
A B
___1. It is where the final digestion and absorption A. pancreas
of nutrients takes place.
___2. It allows the food to be broken down into B. Small Intestine
nutrients.
___3. It removes body wastes like urea and urine C. stomach
___4. It produces pancreatic juice that helps in
dissolving food. D. liver
___5. It produces bile that helps in the digestion of
fats and regulates the sugar level in the blood E. Kidney

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson ENGAGE

C. Presenting Examples/ Instances Let’s do this!

Show the model of the kidneys.
Ask :
- Can you describe the kidneys?
- What are the functions of the kidneys?

Today you are going to make a model of kidneys using recycled materials

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing the new EXPLORE

skills # 1
Activity
1. Organize the class into 4 groups.
2. Introduce Lesson’s activity
3. Set the norms on performing group activities.
E. Discussing new concepts 4. Let them perform the activities on assigned areas. Supervise the pupils as
and practicing the new skills #2 they do the activity.

Group Activity: Challenge Your Creativity (See separate sheet)

Learners will present/perform the assigned task given to them.

F. Developing mastery (leads to Formative EXPLAIN

Assessment #3)
Ask them to present their output to the class and answer the guide questions:

1. What materials did you use in making a model your of kidneys?

2. How did you construct your model of kidney?
3. How did you find the activity?
4. What is the function of the kidney? Explain

G. Finding practical applications of concepts and ELABORATE

skills in daily living Let them watch a video presentation and ask questions about it.
(choose any of these video)
https://youtu.be/JR1f57gCBug
https://youtu.be/cuVt3g1Bj8A
https://youtu.be/9BFNaZ7s1AM

1. What are the materials he/she used?

2. Based on the video, how does the model of the kidneys construct?
3. Ask them to do the model of kidneys independently, following the instruction in
the video that they have watched.

I. Evaluating learning EVALUATE

This activity output of the learners may be considered in assessing them

formatively.
Evaluate their performance using the three-point rubric:

Three points: Kidney was organized correctly and represents a true model of
the human form. Although using non-traditional materials. Clearly grasped and
applied knowledge of the bones and muscles.
Two points: Kidney was organized correctly and represents a model of the
human form. A few areas could use more refinement, but still very recognizable.
Previous knowledge is applied, however not all areas are clearly defined.
One point: Kidney was recognizable; however some areas are slightly off from
the actual human form. Thinking not clear - no evidence that knowledge was
applied. Revision work is needed for clear understanding.

J. Additional activities for application or EXTEND

remediation.
Make a body map emphasizing the kidney.
