CHAPTER I

THE PROBLEM

Background of the Study

Some people depend on electricity since they need it in their

daily lives. Electricity is used in many technologies to power them

up. Almost every establishment has technologies to use it for it

their daily lives, business and other things. By powering these

technologies consumes energy which may lead to large expenses.

These reasons spur the researchers to undertake this study. The

researchers will investigate if the portable energy generator will

lessen these expenses.

Magnet Engine free energy generator is an easy device to

generate electrical energy. It works on the principle of Neodymium

Magnets. In a simple motor, magnetic field is created by the

electric coils generally Cu, Al coils. These motors continuously

need electrical supply to produce magnetic field. There are huge

amount of energy losses. But the Magnet Motor Consists of no

such coils. Hence there will be minimal losses. It uses the

permanent magnetic field of the magnets to generate the required

force to move the motor. This concept of generating magnetic field

2

from the permanent magnets became practical only after

introducing Neodymium magnets which are much power full than

the Ferrite magnets. The main advantage is that it does not require

continuous electric supply (Grover, Lohith Kumar, & Rumalla,

2014).

A simple DC motor/generator consists of a rotor & a stator.

The stator of the machine does not move & normally is the outer

frame of the machine; the rotor is free to move & normally is the

inner part of the machine. Both of them are usually made up of

ferromagnetic materials. Slots are cut on the inner periphery of the

stator & the outer periphery of the rotor. Conductors are placed in

these slots of the stator or rotor. These are interconnected to form

round windings. The winding in which voltage is induced is called

armature windings & which current is passed field winding.

Permanent magnets are used in some machines to provide the

main flux of the machine (Grover et al., 2014).

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to know the effectiveness of portable energy

generator in lessening the expenses of students. This study also

3

aims to know the difference between the existing generator and the

portable energy generator in terms of usability. Is there will be any

effect in the effect in the rate of expenses of students if the large

generator is used? Is there will be any effect in the rate of expenses

of the students if the portable energy generator is used?

Hypothesis of the Study

In relation to the foregoing problems considered by the

researchers, this study will test the following hypotheses provided

by the researchers in its null form at 0.05 of significance level:

1. There is a significant difference between the effects of the

portable energy generator and large generator on the expenses

of students.

2. There is a significant effect in the rate of expenses of students

in using the large generator.

3. There is a significant effect in the rate of expenses of students

in using the portable energy generator.

The Figure 1 above is the research’s concept map or research

paradigm that shows the inputs (DC motor, Neodymium Magnet,

Propeller, Light bulb), process (Analyzing, Planning, Building,

Testing, and Designing), and the output (Portable Energy

Generator).

Significance of the Study

Portable energy generator is effective in producing electricity

to power devices that require little consumption and can be carried

5

anywhere. It will release electricity that may power devices as long

it is minimal. Portable energy generator may power up devices but

the downside is it will not power up other devices that require more

power.

Students. This study can help students for they can use the

portable energy generator as a power bank to charge up their

devices. They can swap it to a propeller to make it as a fan.

Parents. This study can help them learn about the portable energy

generator and thus having to know that they can lessen their

expenses at home by using the portable energy generator.

Teachers. This study can help teachers as well for they can use

the portable energy generator as a power bank as well. They can

charge their phones to use it for teaching. They can also use the

study in their teachings for further knowledge.

Future Researchers. This study shall also help future researchers

so they can get the idea on how this study works. They can also

use it as a reference on their research.

Scope and Delimitation of the Study

This part of chapter 1 will determine the coverage for this

study entitled ‘The Effects of Portable Energy Generator to lessen

the expenses of students in Malasiqui National High School’ to be

able to constrains the researchers on who are, where, and when

they will conduct their chosen topic. However, the delimitation will

provide those that are not belong in researching this study in order

to be accurate and specific in getting the needed information and

to further explain the reasons for the coverage of this study.

The respondents are Grade 12 students coming from

Malasiqui National High School, Malasiqui Pangasinan on its

Senior High School Department and currently enrolled in Science,

Technology, Engineering and Mathematics of academic track. It’s

under the section/cluster of 12-STEM-01 to 12-STEM-02 (cluster

1). The survey was held on every classroom of the respective

section during the second semester of school year 2018 to 2019.

The study had a total number of only 30 respondents for the whole

cluster giving them a series of questions or a survey about the

subject.

The researchers excluded those people outside the said

school to be able to be more specific and to gather the essential

7

data faster and more reliable. The school’s Grade 11 students are

also not included in conducting the survey it’s because they are

not yet been sorted between the two focuses of the STEM strand

and other tracks and strands as well. Those other departments of

the school are excluded too for this research.

The reason why the researchers only chose those from their

scope is that, they had met the necessary qualifications in order to

become part of this research study. Also there’s a short time for

the researchers to gather information or data required for their

study so they need only a couple of students coming from the same

school.

Definition of Terms

The following terms listed below are the terms that are used

by the researchers that needs to define for the sake of the readers.

The terms below are defined conceptually.

Battery- is a collection of one or more cells whose chemical

reactions create a flow of electrons in a circuit.

Electric Motor- is an electrical machine that converts electrical

energy into mechanical energy.

8

Electricity- is the presence and flow of electric charge.

Magnets- is a material or object that produces a magnetic field.

Voltage- an electromotive force or potential difference expressed in

volts.
