1. Tool

Deburring MultiTool Fig. 48821

Application The deburring MultiTool processes the sheet with single strokes or
consecutive punching strokes.
 The deburring MultiTool is designed to deburr small inside
contours and remaining paths < 2 mm.
 The tool can be used in many ranges with its 3 deburring
geometries, square, circular, and triangular.

Only burr that arises during punching can be embossed away with
the deburring MultiTool. Process reliability cannot be guaranteed
when increased burr formation is caused by, for example, poor tool
maintenance, blunt tools, or a selected cutting clearance that is too
large.

If used in combination machines, the tool is released only for

deburring of punched contours.

Two versions are available for the slot width depending on the
premachining selected:
 Slot width 5 mm (metric).
 Slot width 1/8" (inch).

2. Area of application

Prerequisite
 Punch the contour to be deburred free before deburring.
Ideally, this has already been done by the MultiShear cut
followed by roller deburring. Therefore, only the remaining
residual contour in the inside corners needs to be deburred.
 The workpiece to be deburred must be held securely on at
least two (better yet, four) points in the sheet skeleton during
deburring. Depending on the part size, more frequent
connection can be advantageous.
 During deburring the sheet skeleton must be sufficiently stable.

The deburring MultiTool is supported by adaptive stroke

calibration.

Cartridge installation For cartridge installation, MultiTools are always to be adjusted in

such a way that Punch 1 is active at Station 1 (home position).

When the gear rim's home position is marked, the tool can be
brought into home position quicker. This provides for a faster start-
up.

This home position is automatically approached again prior to

replacing the deburring MultiTool tools.

Tab. 5
Note
Deburring long, thin slats and long contours connected on one side
is conditionally possible, since transverse forces can deflect the
sheet. If necessary the limits must be determined by
experimentation.

Influential parameters are material thickness, material, and contour

length. Installing connections such as microjoints can stabilize
critical parts.

1
The tool length is measured from the upper edge of the alignment ring to
the bottom edge of the punch.

Active die (option) Die height
On these machines, the die height must be entered in the tool data
of the control. The die height is measured from the underside of
the die plate to the highest point of the die.
Value 31.3 is valid for the die height.

Stroke types
The following stroke types can be selected for optimum use of the
tool:
 Punch without support position.
TruPunch 5000: The displayed value for the stroke type is 1.

Necessary options
Some tools can only be used with a special machine option such
as "active die".
For this tool, the applicable value is 0 = none.
