Job Title: Programme Financial/Cost Modeller

Highlighted Responsibilities:
Responsible for supporting CEO and Programme Director to write 5 year Business Case and building
supporting financial models to secure over £100m of funding to carry out Census Programme.

 Responsible for rewriting entire business case for the Programme, the initial business case had a
£10million shortfall and meant budgets were severely restricted at key stages of the census. This
involved seeking approval from Government Ministers for further funding to prevent key stages of
the programme slipping behind schedule.
 Designed detailed financial model that allowed numerous best and worst case scenarios to be
considered. The model underpinned the plan of the entire Programme and was the basis for most
key financial and strategic decisions around resourcing and procurements.
 Embedded best practice for financial reporting and design of financial models throughout the
Programme. These skills were previously absent and key financial decisions had previously been
made on incorrect reporting and forecasting.

Job Title: Group Pricing Strategy Lead

Highlighted Responsibilities:
Responsible for working with the holding private equity house and overseeing the acquisition of a rival
competitor in the mid-market superyacht industry.

 The main objective was to align the pricing strategy of the acquired entity and the existing mid-
market business group.
 This involved designing and implementing a pricing model that unified existing models and
processes that were being used within the group.
 The model leveraged the large amounts of historic data that was stored within the business (most
being largely unused) and through using multi linear regression analysis allowed firm and optimal
pricing methodology to be integrated within the sales and marketing teams.
 The work helped turnaround the loss making entity that was acquired into a business that was
forecasting steady profit through improved pricing and resource allocation.

Job Title: Management Consultant

Highlighted Responsibilities:
Responsible for working as part of a Strategic Partner for the MOD while Fujitsu, BT and Vodafone
were bidding for two telecommunications contracts (expected value £1bn+) over the next 10 years.

 Responsible for the production of a Should Cost Model that would give the Minimum, Most-Likely
and Maximum (P10, P50, P90) costs of both the Connectivity and Integrated User Services
contracts (Using MS Excel and @Risk).
 This involved developing benchmark prices for the services by pooling current market prices and
using volumes based on current and future demand. Extensive analysis of large data sets was
needed to provide insight on the ‘as is’ MOD Estate volumes and WAN utilisation data.
 The modelling was used for identifying and underpinning the expected savings from the new
contracts.
 Responsible for building and maintaining resourcing financial models for the programme to
ensure workstreams and projects remained within budget.

Highlighted Responsibilities:
Responsible for developing a whole life cost model that considered different complex weapon system
options for the SHOrt Range Air Defence (SHORAD) project. (£600m+ contract).

 To support the Initial Gate Operational Analysis (OA) it was necessary to conduct a number of
costing activities at both the SHORAD project and Team-CW pipeline level in order to establish
both the requirement and cost effectiveness of proceeding with a number of options through an
Assessment Phase.
 Responsible for using @Risk for developing various probabilistic mathematical modelling and
graphical outputs including P10, P50, P90 values as well as the probability of each option being
the cheapest.
 Working closely with CAAS to develop COEIA cost model while carrying out refinements to the
MDAL/CDAL to take account of changes to the COEIA assumptions. Also incorporating risk into
the WLC model.

FSM Investment Appraisal Analysis - Defence Contract (£14 billion+)

Highlighted Responsibilities:
 Responsible for developing whole life cost models that considered a number of different
system/part options for the Successor (Future Submarine) project. To support the Initial Gate
Operational Analysis (OA) it was necessary to conduct a number of costing activities in order to
establish both the requirement and cost effectiveness of proceeding with a number of options
through an Assessment Phase.
 The role involved working closely with the design engineers, senior management and team leads
and advanced MS Excel was used to develop mathematical models that used Taylor Series to
determine scalars for the costs of the options and Monte Carlo simulation to capture uncertainty
(P10, P50, P90).
 Developed ‘spend to save’ modelling techniques using triangular distributions, normal
distributions and Monte Carlo simulation to give investment metrics and probability outputs.
 Through working closely with the design engineers technical reports were delivered that
considered sensitivity analysis with worse and best case scenarios. These reports were used to
assist key strategic decision making on options during Assessment phase of project.
