Micro-Project Report
(Minimum 4 pages)

Title of Micro-Project

1.0 Rationale
(Importance of the micro project in 30-50 words. Modified version)
Software Engineering is the foundation for professional processes to be followed involving
principles, techniques and practices for software development. The micro-project based on
process which is followed while developing the quality software. It enables to blend the
domain specific knowledge to identify, define, analysis, design and scheduling and testing to
create quality software product.

2.0 Aim/Benefits of the Micro-Project (minimum 30-50 words)

This Micro-Project aims at (As per your project)

4.0 Literature Review

UML diagram
Unified modeling language was created to forgr a common, semantically and syntactically rich
visual modeling language for the architecture, design and implementation of complex software
system both structurally and behaviorally.

Use Case Diagram

• The purpose of a use case diagram in UML is to demonstrate the different ways that a user
might interact with a system. Use case diagrams are used to gather the requirements of a
system including internal and external influences.
• The purposes of use case diagrams can be said to be as follows –
• Used to gather the requirements of a system.
• Used to get an outside view of a system.
• Identify the external and internal factors influencing the system.
• Show the interaction among the requirements are actors
Actor
• Someone interacts with use case (system function).
• Named by noun.
• Actor plays a role in the business
• Similar to the concept of user, but a user can play different roles
Use Case
• System function (process - automated or manual)
• Named by verb + Noun (or Noun Phrase).
• i.e. Do something
Use Case Example - Association Link

A Use Case diagram illustrates a set of use cases for a system, i.e. the actors and the relationships
between the actors and use cases.

DFD
A data flow diagram (or DFD) is a graphical representation of the flow of data through an
information system. It shows how information is input to and output from the system, the sources
and destinations of that information, and where that information is stored. Focus is on the flow of
information, where data comes from, where it goes and how it gets stored.

DFD rules

• Each process should have at least one input and an output.

• Each data store should have at least one data flow in and one data flow out.
• Data stored in a system must go through a process.
• All processes in a DFD go to another process or a data store
DFD Symbols
5.0 Actual Procedure Followed.
Write step wise the work was done, including which team member did what work
and how the data was analyzed (if any).
1. Case Study of Application (Detail Abstract of application)

2. Features (Characteristics and Scope of application)

3. Functional Requirement and non-functional Requirements

6.0 Actual Resources Used

(Mention the actual resources used).
Sr.No. Equipment Name with Broad Specification Remark if any

1 Hardware: Personal Computer (i3-i5),RAM minimum 2GB

2 Operating System: Windows 7/ LINUX

3 Software Tools: Any UML tool

7.0 Outputs of the Micro-Projects

(Drawings of the prototype, drawings of survey, presentation of collected data,
findings etc.)
UML diagram/Gantt Chart/Time line/Test case Table/ SRS/feasibility study
8.0 Skill Developed / learning out of this Micro-Project (As per your Project)
1. Learn to draw UML diagram (Designing of Project)
2. Perform black box testing of software.
3. Prepare SRS.
4. Scheduling of Project.
5. Documentation of Project
6. Time management
7. Technical Writing
8. Team work
9. Problem solving

9.0 Application of this Micro-Project

It is used to apply Principles, techniques, practices and design framework for quality software
development process, scheduling, testing and estimation.
