Sub: Written Test for TECHNICAL ASSISTANT(MECHANICAL)(AIR COND. SPEC.), Category


(UR-1) at Level-7 of Rs. 44900 - Rs. 142400/- Reg.

Madam/Sir,

With reference to your online application for the above post, you are requested to appear for a
Written Test at 10:00 Hours on 07/07/2019 (Sunday) at Centre Code : 002: Amrut Mody School
of Management, Ahmedabad University, GICT Building, Central Campus, Near Commerce
Six Roads, Navrangpura, Ahmedabad, Gujarat 380009 .

Please bring the following documents at the time of reporting for the written test:-

1. Call Letter and Hall Ticket generated through link sent in your e-mail duly affixing a
recent color photograph at earmarked place.
2. One self-attested photocopy (Xerox) of each documents  towards (a) Educational
qualification, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with  specialization in Air
Conditioning as the case may be and  Certificates of marks for all the years including
certificate/statement of conversion of grade system to percentage system, (b) Age, (c)
experience certificate from each employers mentioned in the applications, indicating
specifically the scale of pay, total emoluments drawn and duration of service, (d) Latest
caste certificate in the format prescribed for Central Government jobs (e) any other
information furnished by you while submitting online application.
3. If you are presently employed in a Government / Semi – Government / Autonomous
Organization or a Public Sector Undertaking, and if your online application was not
followed up  by No Objection Certificate (NOC) as was notified in above mentioned
advertisement,  you should produce a  'No Objection Certificate' from your present
employer at the time of written test.
The written exam will be of 2 Hours duration. There will be 50 multiple choice questions with
negative marking.  Each correct answer will carry 2 marks & each incorrect answer will carry
minus 0.5 marks. No marks for un-attempted questions. The evaluation will be based on Optical
Mark Recognition (OMR). The syllabus of the exam broadly will be as follows:-

1. General Aptitude including English, GK, Reasoning & General Assessment


2. Questions from Core subject of Diploma level for respective category of Diploma In
Mechanical Engineering with  specialization in Air Conditioning, including basic
Mathematics of diploma level.

If you fulfill the following notified norms, you are eligible to appear for written test:-

1. Mechanical – First class Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with  specialization in Air


Conditioning from a recognized University/Institution
2. You should belong to the earmarked category as per your online application & possess
relevant documentary evidence issued by appropriate authority in the prescribed format.
3. Age – 18 - 35 years as on closing date of online application (Maximum 40 yrs for SC/ST
candidates and maximum 38 years for OBC candidates, wherever pots are reserved). Age
relaxation for Person with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) (minimum 40% and above
disability), Ex-serviceman as per Government of India norms.
4. Other terms & conditions of Advt. 05/2018 dated 11/08/2018

As per the notified norms of Technical Assistant, candidates with First Class in Diploma in
Mechanical Engineering with  specialization in Air Conditioning from a recognized
University or Institution.   Accordingly, candidates are advised to make sure their eligibility for
PRL’s post before appearing for written test.

Candidates may note that they are screened-in for the written test on the basis of online
application filled by them & inputs provided there-in. In case, if they are found not fulfilling the
advertised norms or not able to substantiate the online information with appropriate
documentary evidence, their candidature will be treated as cancelled, even if they are qualified
for further evaluation after written test.

If a candidate has submitted online application multiple times more than one post & has
received more than one registration as per PRL online process, in such cases the candidate
will have to decide the Registration No. against which he / she would like to appear for
exam. The same should be brought to the notice of PRL for further processing and his / her
candidature would be considered only for that position subject to the fulfillment of
advertisement norms.

For Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST) Outstation candidates will only be paid Sleeper
Class train fare excluding reservation charges / Ordinary Bus fare for to and fro journey, by the
shortest route from the address given in the web application to the place of examination, on
submission of proof of journey such as the Railway Ticket(s) or Bus ticket(s), etc. The
reimbursement will be transferred online, for which duly filled-in claim form may be
downloaded from PRL website, filled enclosing documentary evidences as stated and submitted
along with full details. Only onward journey proof need to be attached.

Only those candidates who qualify the written test as per the cut-off decided by the Director, PRL
will be called for further evaluation at a later date. This will be intimated to the qualified
candidates only and this information will also be available on the PRL website.

Please note that:-

1. . If you are selected for the above post, your appointment will be treated on direct
recruitment basis and may be posted at PRL’s Observatories at Udaipur or Mt. Abu in
Rajasthan.
2. You will be on probation for a period of one year from the date of your appointment
which may be extended at the discretion of the competent authority.
3. You will be governed by the New Pension Scheme based on defined contributions
introduced by the Government of India, Min. of Fin., Dept. of Expdr. w.e.f. 1.1.2004 as
per their OM No.1 (13)/ EV /2001 dated 13.11.2003.

OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS  &  DETAILS ABOUT PRL

You are advised to bring only non programable scientific calculator, BLACK ballpoint
pen. No other gadgets/ electronic gadgets will be allowed.

You are advised to report to the examination hall one hour before the commencement
of the written test.

Computers, logarithm table, digital diary, mobile phones & other electronic gadgets,
text books, notes etc., will not be allowed inside the examination hall.

Read carefully the instructions in the OMR answer sheet before answering.

Please encircle/ fill all the fields of OMR carefully. Roll number & last four digit of
your Registration number needs to be encircled e.g. if your registration no. is
18SP00123 then you need to encircle “0123” (i.e. last four digit of your Registration
number).

The written test will be of duration of 120 minutes. The questions will be objective
type and in bilingual.

Each Correct answer will carry 2 marks and each wrong answer will carry minus 0.5
mark. No marks for un-attempted questions.

Any answer sheet with marking other than BLACK ballpoint pen will be summarily
rejected. 

After the examination, the candidate should handover the call letter, Hall ticket and
answer sheet to the invigilator.

You may please note that the time, date or venue for written test cannot be changed
for any reasons.

PRL will make its best efforts to display the seating arrangement at PRL website prior
to written test.
