PCM Delasco Peristaltic

Working Principle
•The peristaltic principle was developed by Mr Hortaus in France in 1925.

•The animation shows fluid being drawn into a pump, trapped between two
shoes or rollers, and finally being expelled from the pump. Gaps between
packets of fluid are shown only to help visualize the action.

•The complete closure of the hose which is squeezed between a shoe or a

roller and the track gives the pump its positive displacement action,
preventing backflow and eliminating the need for check-valves when the pump
is not running.

•The hose restitution after the squeeze produces an almost full vacuum that
draws the product in the hose
Peristaltic Pump Advantages
• Easy to install, simple to operate, inexpensive to maintain
• Self priming with high suction lift (up to 29.5 ft. of water)
• Dry running
• Reversible
• Excellent volumetric capacity (dosing)
• Seal less construction
– The pumped fluid is only in contact with the inner wall of the hose and
the inserts.
– The pump has no mechanical seal.
• Particles trapped by the passage of a shoe or a roller penetrate
the hose wall and are ejected in the fluid without ripping the inner
surface of the hose.
• Ideal for slurries, viscous, shear-sensitive and aggressive fluids
• Pump design prevents backflow and siphoning without valves
