Reefer in Terminal
Welcome
To keep track of reefers in terminals, we use geofences. A geofence is a virtual perimeter for a geographical area
drawn in Google Maps. Geofences are used to define and identify different locations and save them on the RCDs, so
the reefer “knows” which terminal or depot it is in. This enables RCM to send alarm notifications to the responsible

PTI
Welcome

The introduction of RCM has made it easier to carry out PTIs. The PTI process has been simplified as reefer-
operating conditions are monitored every hour by Reefer Alarm Prediction System (RAPS).
Introduction

RAPS analyses the reefer-operating conditions in two scenarios:

Alarm Handling
1. When a reefer is full 2. When a reefer is empty:
• RAPS evaluates reefer performance as • EMR vendors and country operations

RCM Vessel System

Welcome
To help vessel technicians remotely monitor reefers and efficiently handle reefer alarms onboard vessels, the RCM
Vessel System is used onboard. The RCM Vessel System is an offline application that receives data from RCM
every six hours and can be refreshed on demand. The RCM Vessel System is a limited version of RCM, designed
Introduction specifically for use on the vessels.

RCM Handheld Unit

Welcome
On vessels that do not have the vessel reefer system, the RCM handheld unit serves as the main reefer
monitoring solution. The handheld unit provides an overview of the condition of reefers. It also provides
alarm notifications in case of reefer malfunction and/or temperature discrepancies in line with RCM and the
Introduction vessel reefer system. The docking station of the handheld unit synchronises data of the handheld unit with
the deck PC.

The handheld unit also serves as a backup monitoring solution on vessels that have the vessel reefer

Summary
Welcome Here is a recap of the key points covered in this guide:

Introduction

• RCM enables us to continuously monitor the status of reefer cargo.

Alarm Handling • The alarm handling process improves cargo care by ensuring fast
notification of alarms.
• There are different types of alarms based on their cause and criticality.
You must take the appropriate action to address an alarm depending on its
PTI criticality.
• Escalation process is initiated if a malfunction is not repaired within its
specified time for repair.
RCM System • Geofences are used to define and identify different locations and save them
Overview on RCDs, so the reefer “knows” which terminal or depot it is in. This enables
RCM to send alarm notifications to the responsible party.
t RCM Onboard • RCM simplifies the PTI process as reefer-operating conditions are monitored
every hour by RAPS.
Vessels
• To help vessel technicians remotely monitor reefers and efficiently handle
reefer alarms onboard vessels, the RCM vessel system and RCM handheld
units are used.
