sentence by itself. It gives a complete meaning. It can stand alone.
– What is dependent clause? A dependent clause does not give a
complete thought. It cannot stand alone. It depends on an independent
clause to complete its meaning.

C. Presenting
examples/instances
of the new lesson More and more children in the neighborhood were becoming
sick of respiratory diseases, so the barangay officials planned out
some action. The entry of vehicles was limited, so that fumes
exhausted would be lessened. Since smoking cigarettes harms
the health of children, smokers in families were advised not to.
Families too, were told to use water-base paints, odorless
detergents, unscented soap, and other mild cleaning agents so
that children would not inhale the offensive odor. The people were
encouraged to plant more trees and other plants in their yards in
order that air around would be cleaner.

– A complex sentence is composed of one independent clause and one
or two dependent clauses whose ideas are related. These ideas are related.
– Complex sentences can be used to show problem-solution relationship
with the help of transition words such as so that, because, since, and in
order to.
– Transition / signal words may be placed at the beginning to introduced
the problem. A comma is then used to separate the problem from the
solution.
