Communicate: In Print gives you the option to print either as single sheets or as books
ready to staple and fold. You can also choose to print double sided.

This is an old German
story about why we put
tinsel on Christmas trees.
1
A long time ago a mother was busily cleaning for Christmas.
She polished the furniture and swept the floors with a broom.
The spiders in the house were scared of the broom.
They fled upstairs to the attic.

When it was quiet the spiders crept back downstairs again.
They saw a Christmas tree.
Oh what a beautiful Christmas tree!
The spiders were excited and crawled up the trunk of the tree.

Then they crawled through the branches.
The tree looked beautiful.
Soon it was covered in grey spider webs.
Now it looked dull.

Santa Claus came with gifts for the children.
He smiled because the spiders were happy.
But he knew the mother would be sad.
Her beautiful tree was now dull and grey.

Santa Claus changed the webs to silver and gold thread.
Now the tree sparkled and was more beautiful than before.
That is why we put tinsel on our Christmas trees.

Peppermint Creams
Ingredients
450 gram Icing sugar sieved
1 x 196 gram tin sweetened condensed milk
half tsp green food colouring
half tsp peppermint essence
06 recipe
Method
1 Mix icing sugar and milk until smooth.
2 Add peppermint essence.
3 Divide mixture in half.
4 Add the food colouring to half the mixture.
5 Roll out both halves separately to 6mm thick.
Cut
6 into shapes.

Zed's Christmas Wish
It was Christmas time on Earth.
Everyone was busy preparing for the celebrations.
Harry and his family were expecting a special visitor.
Zed was coming to stay with them for the holidays.

On Christmas Eve, Zed’s spaceship landed in Harry’s garden.
He was going to stay with Harry for 2 weeks.
Harry and Zed waved goodbye to Zed’s mum and dad.
The spaceship zoomed upward into space.

Harry was excited as it was time to write to Father Christmas.
He fetched some paper and 2 pencils.
Harry began his letter to Father Christmas.
He looked at Zed and saw that he was sad.

"Why are you sad?" asked Harry.
"I can't write," said Zed.
Zed had been visiting earth for a while.
He could speak our language but could not read or write well.

Harry told Zed he would help him to read and write.
This made Zed feel very happy.
Harry helped Zed to write his letter to Father Christmas.
When they had finished they ate supper and went to bed.

On Christmas day Harry and Zed woke up very excited.
They saw Christmas presents all around the tree.
"Look," said Harry, "Father Christmas has been."
Zed and Harry unwrapped their presents from Father Christmas.

Harry got a new computer game and some new clothes.
Zed got a new wristwatch and a special gold wrapped present.
"Look at this," said Zed, “I wonder who it’s from."
"It's from me because you are my special friend," said Harry.

Zed unwrapped the present from Harry and found a box.
Inside the box were lots of cards with words and symbols on.
"These will help you learn to read and write" said Harry.
"Lots of my friends have learned to read and write using them."

"This is the best present I could have wished for" said Zed.
