Sr. Director Engineering Switchfly, Inc. 3/2015 – 8/2016

Took over leadership of the Professional Services Engineering teams (>50 developers) during a time of major
change, bringing back the focus on customer satisfaction and profitability. Switchfly had issues with team
productivity, estimation and solution processes, customer satisfaction with implementations, release
management, and revenue tracking and recognition. I addressed these issues while preparing the PS
organization for expansion due to customer growth and larger scale implementations.

 Redesigned and deployed new processes leading to highly predictable release and capacity planning.
 Moved to a metrics based team leadership model by instituting time tracking, monthly estimate
accuracy and productivity reviews, and capacity planning.
 Reorganized to split 3 large teams into smaller reporting groups. Reducing overhead while significantly
increasing productivity and billability above targets (>85%, >70%).

Hands-on engineering and technical leadership of the Rewards platform and business unit. Held multiple roles
with a growing team pre and post TIBCO acquisition (TIBCO acquired Loyalty Lab in 12/2010).

As head of Product Engineering, managed the product backlog and all elements of the business unit SDLC, from
product design and direction through implementation, testing, and deployment. Directly involved in technical
decisions, product designs, and development. Shipped many product enhancements and proposed and
delivered a replacement platform moving to realtime Customer Engagement Management (CEM), combining an
activity stream from multiple points of contact, realtime evaluation and multi-channel responses.

As head of the Professional Services Group, led all implementation resources (on and offshore) responsible for
client billable projects resulting in revenue exceeding $10M yearly. Worked closely with sales and executives to
support presales activities and technical evaluations.

 Owned product backlog, feature prioritization, and schedules with a constant focus on performance.
 Managed project teams of over 50 consisting of the internal staff, TIBCO experts working as
consultants, and contracted developers both local and offshore, Product, and QA.
 Led data architecture redesign resulting in higher performance and 1/3 data management cost savings.
 Implemented updated release processes for reduced downtime, automated testing, and reduced risk.
 Formed the Professional Services Group, growing the team from 4 to ~40 (US and offshore) in 3 years
while focusing on client onboarding, productivity, and quality.
 Delivered complex technical solutions based business initiatives to sales team and strategic clients.

Project Lead Esurance 9/2005 – 1/2008

Lead architecture, design and development of projects for the claims department dev team. Part of senior
technical staff responsible for corporate architecture and design direction and periodic reviews.

 Started the first remote development office in Rocklin, CA and hired all staff (~20 dev, build, qa).
 Manage, update, and extend existing high traffic claims management systems.
 Designed a replacement architecture and data structure using custom dynamic command based
workflow framework allowing distributed processing and greater flexibility for changing business needs.
 Designed and built highly scalable and secure web service broker application allowing external partners
to access internal systems without making updates to internal systems.

Senior Consultant 1999-2005

 Kohara Media: Designed, built, and maintained an intranet portal application for high profile banking
client using Microsoft SharePoint for secure document management, ticketing, and personnel directory.
 Internet 5 Consulting: Designed and led development of a multi-market billing, payment, and
account management system using local and offshore resources.
 Sacramento County Probation Dept: Led design and development of new C# based workflow mgmt
system within the department. Set up dev, test, and release management standards. Standardized
environments and web service based AD security and data architectures used for all projects.
 The Associated Press: Sr Developer on a small team to create a highly scalable order placement and
contract management system managing over $800M in yearly newspaper advertisement.
 Delta Business Solutions: built a retail sales system to sell virtual prepaid products such as prepaid
wireless, internet, and long distance services through a global network of connected kiosks.
 Eureka Digital: built customized sites using a variety of content management platforms (Vignette,
Blue Martini, etc) for clients across multiple verticals (government, finance, services, hospitality).
